Lorenzo’s Italian Restaurant

On February 23rd, my friend Mercedes’ needed help with filming for one of her class and afterward we decided to go to dinner.

They gave us a lot of garlic bread. It just kept coming. The bread was very soft and very buttery garlic! I loved this bread. Even when I had some the next day for lunch, it was still soft and the butter/garlic mixture wasn’t all hard like other places.

My meal came with an Italian salad. So yummo!

I ordered a bowl of Clam Chowder | $3.99. It was very smooth and they go heavy with the clam. It was one of the best chowder I’ve had forever.

I ordered Spahgetti with Meat Sauce with Meatball | ~$7. There was a lot of pasta and the meatball is the same as the meat in the sauce. But it was good. I had a lot of leftovers.

I think this might be owned by a family. They had bad service though. The waiter seemed a little rude but he was nice enough to get us garlic bread. When we were ready to pay the cooks in the kitchen came out and said sorry, he’s in the restroom. He’ll be out in a minute.

But I would still go here because it was worth my money and so delicious.

Gigi’s Cupcakes

Jenny and I wanted something sweet and we wanted cupcakes. We landed into:

Gigi’s Cupcakes
434 North Loop 1604 W. Suite 1101
San Antonio, TX 78232

We got the 4 for $9.99 deal since it was Valentine’s month.

First up, Wedding Cake [white cake topped with a vanilla buttercream frosting & sprinkled with white nonpareils]. I love nonpareils! Jenny and I made a big mess all over their table. Whoops. We cleaned it up though!

Next up we have the Texas Milk Chocolate [milk chocolate cake topped with milk chocolate frosting, chocolate sprinkles & a yellow fondant star]. The fondant star was not even a full star. I was a little sad. One corner was missing. I feel jipped! Just kidding.

Here we have Peanut Butter Cup [milk chocolate cake topped with peanut butter frosting & honey roasted peanuts drizzled with chocolate ganache]. Nice touch with some peanuts on top.

Last we have Tiramisu [coffee & Kahlua flavored cake with cream cheese, topped with coffee & Kahlua flavored frosting, dutch coca & chocolate sprinkles].

The lady said that you can keep the cupcakes for up to three days. I do not agree with that. By the third day it wasn’t good at all. But nonetheless, it was good. They pile on too much frosting though and the cake is too sweet.

Still on the search for my favorite cupcake place.

Maggiano’s

On February 9th, Amanda and I went to dinner to catch up and hang out and decided on:

Maggiano’s
17603 IH 10W
San Antonio, TX 78257
(210) 451-6000
www.maggianos.com

Almost all Italian restaurants have free bread with olive oil and herbs. Of course Maggiano’s wouldn’t be any¬† different. Sadly, I’m not a big fan of their bread. It was a little on the hard side. As for the olive oil and herbs, it doesn’t have enough taste either. This bread does not win me over.

I ordered the Baked Ziti, $12.95. This was good! I finished it all! The pasta on top was a little too dried though. They have a deal where when you order from the Classic Pasta you get to take one home for free! So I ordered:

the Spaghetti & Meatballs! There was a lot of food in those little containers!! The meatball was gigantic. I had two servings from this so in totalness I paid roughly around $18 for three meals.

They even have instructions on how to reheat the food! So thoughtful! I really do like this place. Really worth my money. I’ve been here for at least 5 times total.
