Hopdoddy Burger Bar

Jenny and I ventured into Austin after our Dallas trip before reaching San Antonio. Our tummies filled with goodies.

Magic Shroom [angus beef, Texas goat cheese, field mushrooms, mayo, basil pesto] | $8

I changed the cheese to Provolone since goat cheese sounds a little yucky. I also added a fried egg. The fried egg made it cost more so it wasn’t $8 anymore. I forgot the price.

Anyway, the burger was so deliciously juicy. I had to eat it separate because it was so big. I’m not a fan of bread but the bun was to die for. So soft and crispy just the way I like it.

Chili Cheese Fries [large] | $5.50

Only comes in large. The chili cheese was a letdown. Too much cheese and not enough chili. Jenny said last time her and Tammy came, it was an equal amount. She agreed it wasn’t that great compared to last time.

The fries itself were delicious. So crunchy and has enough taste on it’s own without being dipped. Next time a small fry (no chili cheese) is what I’ll order.

The line is crazy here but the wait isn’t that long. I mean, come on, it’s Austin. I would LOVE to come here again.

Ramblings

A few of my family friends are doing the Color Run in Austin. I am jealous. I wanted to sign up but no one wanted to do it with me. And now it’s too late. Sad smile Who wants to do it with me next time? I will supply you your white tee!

I’ve been eating three meals a day instead of one. Cleaning out the fridge. Not wasting money. Feels gooooood. I wish I had someone to cook for though. I need a man with a stomach who loves to eat and try new things. He can complain how disgusting it tastes as long as he finishes his plate. Winking smile

A friend of mine always writes about a boy she wants to get with on her Facebook statuses … which annoys me because it doesn’t make her look good and she’s a really nice girl. Especially when other guys find her attractive, but then they see that and get turned off. I don’t understand girls nowadays.

I’ve been told I have to put myself out there more but no matter how I try, it’s not me. I’ll always be the girl with the wall up until the guy breaks the wall down. Might take a while, but that’s when you know the guy is worthwhile.

When I see you.
When I converse with you.
My days are complete.
But it never seems to be enough.
I’m happy if you’re happy.
That’s all I can hope for.

Catch Up

Finally back in San Antonio.

This Thanksgiving has been a fast pace one with LOTS of traveling!

I think I spent a total of a day and a half in the car with the different cities and stores and restaurants I went to.

A recap of Thanksgiving break with some links to previous written post during the break. Open-mouthed smile

On Tuesday afternoon, I got out of class and Jenny and I left to Dallas. We were stuck in traffic and finally made it six hours later. Had pho and chilled a little with her family and my brother. Then we went to bed.

On Wednesday, I woke up to Jenny’s sister, Sammi, knocking on the door wanting to watch Cyberbully so we did. Then we got ready left the house at around 2pm with my brother, Jenny, Tammy, Sammi, and their mum. We went and ate at Doan Restaurant, shopped at some mall, then went and ate at Mr. Wok for my brother’s birthday. We played a board game after dinner. Fun stuff!! Quelf. Y’all should check that out!

On Thursday, Thanksgiving day, the brother and I drove bright and early to Houston. No traffic so it was PERFECT. I’m thankful for many things but there were a few I mentioned. We had my sister’s boyfriend and his roommate over. It was great fun with lots of laughter. We also played Quelf. Seriously, go check it out!

On Friday, it was my Mum’s birthday as well as Black Friday. I went to eat dim sum with the Grandma, Uncle, and cousin, as well as with my family. Then we walked around to many places to buy things. I bought a lot of stuff online that night. The family and I went to a buffet place to celebrate mum’s birthday. Then we went home and played card games.

On Saturday, the brother and I drove back to Dallas bright and early. Again, no traffic. We went to In-n-Out with Jenny and Tammy then walked around the mall. I even bought some cute booties!! We then all took a nap before getting ready and heading to The Ranch for my brother and Tammy’s birthday dinner with their friends. Afterward we went to J.Black’s and Barcadia, two bars. It was a lot of fun and I met a lot of people! Brother, Jenny, Tammy, and I got home around 2:30am and opened all the presents people gave them and stayed up talking until 5am! Ridiculous huh?

On Sunday, we all woke up around 11am?, got ready, and ate lunch with their parents and Sammi at a Chinese place. Yum! Then we went back to their house and packed up to leave. We were stuck in the car for 8 hours due to traffic. I even watched The Help in the car because I was so bored. We finally made it to Austin to drop off Tammy, and San Antonio for Jenny and I.

It’s definitely been a lot of traveling but it was worth it being with family, meeting new people, and eating great foods!

I hope you all had a great Thanksgiving as well!! Christmas, I’m waiting for you! Winking smile

Trudy’s and Amy’s

During Halloween weekend, we had some adventures.

Me, Jenny, Tammy, Brian, Richard, Susan, Peter, Michelle, Wilson P., Long, and Steven all went to:

Trudy’s
409 West 30th Street
Austin, TX
(512) 477-2935
www.trudys.com

We had to split up with seating so I sat with Peter, Susan, and Michelle.

2011-10-30 15.01.28

It comes with free chips and two different salsa dips. We had already eaten halfway until I realized I had to take a picture. Whoops!

Us four ate at least four times this if not more. It was that good!

2011-10-30 15.30.052011-10-30 15.30.23

Beef Fajita Ala Mexicana [tender beef fajita meat marinated in a soy-ginger spice blend and sautéed with onions, cilantro, jalapenos, tomatoes and lime juice. Garnished with a small salad and sliced avocado. Served with Spanish rice, borracho beans and a choice of tortillas] | $12.50

I got a choice of corn tortillas. Omgosh … I about died. The meat was so juicy and succulent. I was very full. I wasn’t even halfway full. (Maybe it was the chips?) But I made sure to finish ALL the meat. Because it would be a waste if I didn’t.

After we ate, Wilson P., Michelle, Steven, and I were heading back to the apartment and stopped by

Irish Crème with a waffle cone and sprinkles | ~$5

I’ve never had ice cream with alcohol before so it was a good experience. I couldn’t taste the alcohol but Wilson P. and Michelle thinks it’s filled with it. Hmm …

This was what sparked my ice cream with sprinkles addiction with the last post I made. It was that good. Sadly Amy’s is the best ice cream place I’ve ever been.

My Halloweekend = Simple

Oh Hello November. I didn’t see you there.

I am a horrible blogger. I know. I know. I took zero pictures from Halloweekend.

Well I took some food ones on my phone but am not quite sure how to take them off yet so those will have to wait.

I had a good weekend though. I got to hang out with the brother. Brother’s girlfriend, Tammy. Tammy’s sister, Jenny (aka roomie). Jenny’s then boyfriend, Richard. Richard’s brother, Peter. Peter’s girlfriend, Susan. Susan’s sister, Michelle. And three of their friends: Wilson P., Steven, and Long.

We all stayed at Tammy’s apartment in Austin. We went to sixth street. It wasn’t as packed as 3 years ago though so it was good.

We even ate a bratwurst from one of the street vendors! Mmmm … I wouldn’t pay $5 for one again though.

I was suppose to be a fallen angel (made my own tutu) but then decided against it. I’ve never really dressed up for Halloween so my motto is go small. haha So I resulted in being a football player with whatever I already had. But when I got there, Michelle sucked me into being a mouse with her mouse ears so mouse it was.

It was great seeing everyone. They’re all from Dallas … except for my brother and me. But my brother is there for school and most likely will stay there for life.

I think that about sums up my Halloweekend. I’ve been reading and looking at everyone’s Hallweekend and theirs seem so much better than mine!

Glad y’all had a good one!

If I ever figure out how to get some pictures from this weekend, I’ll post it up. Smile

Ken’s Donuts

February 4th we ate our Korean food leftovers so we decided to go out for dessert. We landed in:

Ken’s Donuts
2820 Guadalupe St.
Austin, TX 78705
(512) 320-8484

Jenny, Tammy, and I decided it was easier if one person paid so everything is in the same box. The things I bought were Blueberry Centers (These were not great at all. It tasted better when it was sitting in the fridge for a night. Instead go for the regular centers. They taste way better.), Sugar Yeast Donut (I like when my donuts has little crystals on it and let me just say this was magnificent. So soft and fluffy!), and Glazed Donut (It wasn’t that great. I’ll stick to the Sugar Yeast.).

I would come back here again to try other things that they have but so far I only liked the Sugar Yeast Donuts.

Torchy’s Tacos

For breakfast on February 4th, Tammy, Jenny, and I went to:

Torchy’s Tacos
1311 South 1st Street
Austin, TX 78704
(512) 366-0537
torchystacos.com

Their menu is pretty straightforward. Everything’s written on there and it looks as though a chalkboard kind of menu. I loved it!

I ordered two tacos!! It looks gross on here though. /:

The first taco I got was Jalapeno Sausage Egg and Cheese on a Flour Tortilla | $2. They had a lot of ingredients stuffed in there. So delicious!

The second taco I got was The Democrat [shredded beef barbacoa topped with fresh avocado, queso fresco, cilantro, onions, & a wedge of lime] | $3.75. I got mine on Corn Tortilla. It came with two of the tortilla whereas Tammy and Jenny got theirs on flour and it only came with one. This was definitely worth it. I was already full and in the end, it seemed like I got three tacos instead of two.

This is the Tomatillo Sauce that came with The Democrat. They gave me two of these little things. I felt there was not enough of this sauce but it was all good. The taco was so good that it didn’t even need sauce!

I really want to go here again and again. Thank goodness they have so many locations!

Austin BBgo

On February 3rd, Jenny and I went to Austin since I couldn’t go home for Chinese New Year’s due to the weather. We stayed at Tammy’s place. For dinner we ate at:

Austin BBgo
6808 Lamar Blvd B-110
Austin, TX 78757
(512) 323-0153
www.austinbbgo.com

There were no one there when we walked in. Not sure if it was because we were there a little later than usual but we only saw one couple walk in after us. Hmm …

These were the side dishes. Not sure what they all are but they were good. We cleared them all. We weren’t sure if we could get seconds, thirds, etc. like other Korean restaurants so that kind of put a downer in our meal.

I ordered the Galbi | ~$16. I think the price was around there. It was very expensive but I made two meals out of this. It was worth the price.

Sadly this is the amount of rice they gave me for my Galbi. Um … that is never enough rice for me. Jenny gave me some of hers and even then I was still a little hungry. Let’s just say I’m a rice bucket. We weren’t sure if ordering for another bowl would cost money so that was another downer.

Tammy ordered the Bibimbap. Not sure how much it cost for her but I think it didn’t pass two digits. She said it was good and she made another meal out of this too.

Jenny got the Bulgogi |~$12 … definitely not worth the price. The meat was tough and it had no taste. Not sure what happened there. She was very dissatisfied and although she made another meal out of it she didn’t even want to eat it. It was as if someone pointed a gun to her head as she swallowed it.

I’m a big fan of Korean food but I don’t believe I’ll ever come here again. It was not worth my money.
