Simple San Antonio Weekend

I didn’t take many pictures of the weekend. It was pretty crazy. Always great seeing them peeps! Just wished more of them were in town and not having fun all around the world! It was a simple weekend. Much needed with all the crazy weekends though!

Thursday:

Drove to San Antonio after work for dinner at Kona with Shayna, Thuy, and Patricia. It was amazing catching up with them. Then watched Flight with Patricia, Shayna and Jakob.

Friday:

Had lunch at McAlister’s with Shayna, Patricia, and Marisol. Talked about random things then went shopping with Shayna and met up with Matt and his cousin.

It was the first time Shayna and I got to spend one on one like that and I loved it. That girl is amazing and so easy to be with! So sad she’s going to be moving across the states. Hopefully whenever she’s a bit settled I can go visit her!

Early dinner was made by Shayna! Mmmm … love crockpot chicken. Always so fall off the bone delicious!

Went out for a late dinner at Cheddar’s (mashed potatoes and veggies are the best!) with Patricia, Travis, and Gary. Love those boys to death. Wish I got to see them more. They make me so happy and simple conversations … yes please. No craziness. Love it.

Saturday:

Had I-HOP with Patricia then tried going to the watch Furious 6 with her Marisol and her boyfriend, Josh. Took us hours until we got a time with seats. Oy vey. Amazing movie. I loved it all. Paul Walker … yes.

While waiting for the movie, Patricia and I went to Target and I saw these beauties! Individual packaged gummy bears. I get sick of eating all of it so this is perfect!

And everyone loves Froyo!

After the movie and chilling a little, we made dinner plans to go to Datapoint with them, Travis, and Patricia’s friend. Then we went to Espana for some drinks (Thuy met up with us!) and then Fast Eddie’s for pool! Thuy and I teamed up and won 5 games out of 5! Who would of thunk it! In the last two games, we let Josh be on our team. Funny moments. Simple times.

Sunday:

Woke up to helping Shayna pack up the U-Haul with her family. Then left for home.

Came home to reorganizing the baking cabinets. It’s all clean and neat now!!

And we’ve sold our work out bench. Sad day. Now I have to revise my workouts. Wahhh …

Sissy found this in her make up bag. Bruno ate her whole EOS chapstick! SO funny!

IMG_20130527_000034

Pluto passed out. All the dogs apparently got fleas over the weekend. But glad to report they’re a-okay! Wish other people’s dogs were checked more often so they don’t infect all the others.

Time for more Gossip Girls then bed! Hope y’all are having an amazing Memorial Day Weekend!

I am thankful I can still learn. I’m taking a class online at work, which is paid for, about Petrophysics. 16 hours worth of material you can work at your own pace. Sounds boring and disgusting, right? Actually you are wrong … so wrong. It’s actually very interesting. That would be my hand written notes on the right. That’s how much I love it! I kinda miss school …

I am thankful for having such a wonderful team of people to work with at my job. They’re around my age, mostly, so it’s easier to get along not that my last team was hard to get along with. We can joke more and laugh more. It’s more relaxed which I love.

IMG_20120816_080319

This morning, Tony C. and I went and got knockoff Starbucks at our building and it was nice knowing I have someone who would do that with me. Not feel as lonely. And it was nice that we were able to share some things about our personal lives that’s outside the office so we’re not so much strangers.

IMG_20120816_205709

Some people on our team went out to lunch at Carabba’s with BossMan today. And got to know them better which was nice. BossMan paid which got us mad because we told him we were going to pay. Tony C. got yelled at for getting up trying to fix that but … what can you do. When BossMan says sit down, you sit down.

I am so very thankful for my job. I know I have it better than a lot of people in the world. I’m not sitting there worried about if I can find a job, what interview is coming up, etc. It might be hard sometimes not having that same routine, being full time with FTK, or seeing some people in my life because they’re all in San Antonio, but as long as they know I’m still there for them and they’re still there for me, I think I’ll be fine. Which leads me to my next Good Thought …

I am thankful for friends who check up on you. I’m not going to lie. I only keep in touch with some people but we only talk once in a blue moon, but it’s nice nonetheless. Especially when it’s them making the initiative. Cuz you know … I hate when I feel like I’m bothering someone. I would talk to everyone if I wasn’t afraid of bothering them. Maybe tell me I’m not bothering you when I talk to you and I promise, I will talk to you forever and ever and ever …

Getting a text from Travis Monday night letting me know the reason he’s M.I.A. from IM-ing or E-mailing is because lack of internet at his new apartment. Then caught up a bit.

Gary called me yesterday while I was at work, left a voice message, called him back after work and we talked for a good while. Always nice to talk to someone even though they’re miles away. Makes me feel like I’m still there.

Getting an IM from Anthony, caught up and found out he has an interview lined up here in Houston in September. Throwing good luck his way.

Had dinner with Mallory after work at Cheddars tonight. (Salad, croissant, broccoli, broccoli and cheese, mashed potatoes, green beans, and a Strawberry Daiquiri. I did not finish at all … neither did Mallory.) She contacted me a few days ago asking if we could hang out. Uh, duh! It was nice to meet up with her and catch up. So much stuff has changed. I’m glad we’re both back in the same city because the hang outs will now commence.

I am thankful I am able to help save lives. Yes, you read that right. Since summer of 2007, I’ve been donating blood. It use to be my whole blood but after half a year of that, I switched to plasmas and platelets. And because of that, I’m able to donate once a week. I haven’t gone in almost a year because I didn’t get to come home as much due to FTK things and then summer came and I was out of the country. Now I’m back and ready to get poked and prodded. I’ve set an appointment for tomorrow morning and I cannot wait! If you’re able to save lives, do it. Do Good, Help Others.

This post accidentally got too long. But it’s never a bad thing when it’s about the good in life.

Be Positive.

Growing Up

I was suppose to start Paleo on May 1st but a sea of events made me change my mind. It was Andy L.’s birthday and although he doesn’t celebrate his birthday, we went out for dinner and drinks because he was turning 21. Only the right thing to do, right? So how can I start Paleo when I would have to drink beer. And when I say have I mean, want to. We had dinner at Cheddar’s with a big group of people and then ended up going to Kona. There was only four of us total, but that’s all you need to have fun!

I got into a three hour plus deep conversation with someone and I realized that timing is everything and I don’t have it. I never have it. Paleo was the last thing on my mind that day.

**********

Jenny is the worst when it comes to picking movies. She picked Haywire just because Channing Tatum is in it. Really? He was only on screen for at least 15 minutes.

Travis left few seconds before the movie was over. Let’s just say we were lost pretty much the entire movie. Travis and I texted the whole time. Yep … worst movie ever. Don’t watch it.

We were suppose to watch Hugo but Jakob came over and we watched The Cell instead. It’s a weird movie but very sad if you think about it. Actually I watched the movie. He fell asleep and is still asleep on the couch. I tried waking him up and it didn’t work. How do you wake someone up that is a heavy sleeper?

**********

Did I mention I was graduating? Yep. Next Saturday. Next step … into the real world.

Alamo Drafthouse Cinema

This weekend has been the most amazing one this whole semester.

I got to spend it with some amazing people.

I’ve already covered Friday night but I found a picture in my phone so you’ll just have to suck it up and hear it again!

Friday:

2011-11-18 20.20.27

After working hard on a partnership packet, a group of us went and ate at Cheddar’s. Gary, Ryan, Patricia, Katrina, Andy, Preston, and I all squeezed into a booth. Drinking was in order. Ryan and Patricia ordered margaritas while I chose the oh so wonderful Fat Tire. The others were underage.

Our waiter was DUMB. He didn’t know what a Fat Tire was and when we said separate checks, he said huh? Really now?

Saturday:

Jenny, Tammy, and I went to the mall. Tammy needed to buy a birthday present for my brother so we shopped around. Then afterward we shopped around for ourselves. Winking smile

I got cute little fingerless mittens that can change to where my fingers are covered at Forever21 for $6.

I even got a nice looking jacket at Macy’s for $25! What a deal!! It’s a nice jacket that I can wear with my nice clothes. Much needed since I own a lot of hoodies.

I had gotten a text from my high school friend, Nicole, that she and her boyfriend were going to be in town. So we planned to get dinner with Stephanie (another high school friend who has been interning here in San Antonio).

We went to Taqueria Data Point. Obviously I chose it and since we were in San Antonio, I can only take them to the best Mexican food in town!

We talked and chilled. It was great. That was the first time I’ve met her boyfriend, and he was amazing!! He could definitely hold a conversation.

The only thing missing was Michelle. She’s coming home from New York this upcoming Sunday!! Finally, we’ll be in the same state again!

Jenny and Tammy wanted to watch Breaking Dawn so we had agreed to meet back at the apartments at 9pm. Then we headed to:

Our tickets. We are nerds. And we sat all the way at the top … that’s the view I saw. That’s not really the movie on the screen. Before they movie, they played all the spoofs. It’s hilarious!

2011-11-19 22.17.38

There was a lot of things on the menu. Definitely not your usual candies, sodas, popcorn, and nachos at the regular movie theaters.

After you figure out what you want, you write it down and stick it on the metal rail in front of you so it looks like a “flag”.

2011-11-19 22.37.21

Toasted Orzo [olive oil toasted Orzo pasta tossed in red vinegar, parsley, sun dried tomatoes, artichokes, and green onions] | $2.99

This was actually A LOT of food. The dude said it came In a small bowl. I beg to differ. I ate some and gave the rest to Jenny.

This was dang delicious and for such a low price. (It was a side.) The only thing I’m confused with is, it says it’s pasta … but I got rice. Unless Orzo means rice. Oh and the dish is cold. Like a salad!

I would order this again when I go because it’s cheap and delicious.

2011-11-19 22.37.48

Guinness Milkshake [Guinness and vanilla ice cream] | $5.00

OMG … I love it. I wished they would of told me that it had whipped cream because I would of told them NO THANKS! It was very delicious though. I would love to go and just order this. So delectable. So smooth.

2011-11-19 22.49.15

“Royale With Cheese” Burger [100% hormone and antibiotic free Angus patty with lettuce, tomato, onions, Cheddar cheese, bacon and chipotle mayo on a toasted sweet bun] | $9.99

The burger was very juicy. Cooked perfectly. The fries had a special type of seasoning so my ketchup as very unnecessary. The fries were a bit on the hard side. Not crunchy … hard. Yep.

I don’t think I would order the burger again though. It was good but not GREAT.

The theater itself … there are little lights underneath the long table where you sit. Luckily the ones under Jenny and I were out so it wasn’t super bright. The people came at the WORST times possible. But it was still a great experience.

The movie itself … was great! I’m not a die-hard Twilight fan but I love when people will do anything to protect those they love. Go watch it. It’s not terrible!

Sunday:

It was suppose to be study day but Jenny, Tammy, and I were lazy and were on Pinterest laughing away. When they went to H-E-B, I started my laundry, showered, and printed out all my slides. Productive?

2011-11-20 15.59.08

A bee flew into our humble abode. Sad smile They were scared. I wasn’t scared … as long as it wasn’t close to me. He was pretty dumb. He kept flying into the window and couldn’t get out. Took him about a good hour. I tried to help but you could hear he was getting angry.

After dinner, we watched Water For Elephants.

Such a good movie. Robert Pattinson isn’t as terrible as everyone thinks. I find him attractive. Winking smile

This weekend was filled with fun and I cannot wait for this upcoming Thanksgiving break. I get to see my whole family as well as Tammy and Jenny’s family. It’s going to be amazing!!

Whine

This week was horrible.

I’m glad it’s over.

I had four meetings, one test, three projects, one benefit night, and one presentation.

Then today when I thought all I had were two meetings, ended up having me work on a partnership packet from 11-730pm.

Horrible.

I hate when someone starts something and doesn’t follow through and then leaves when they were the one that messed up everything in the first place.

I got through it.

The packet’s still not done but I’ll work hard on it this weekend and study for a test that I have.

After working on the packet with the help of some people, a group of us went to Cheddar’s. Yum!

Relaxation time.

Peaces!

Catching Up With Old Friends

Well, more like friend.

I finally got to see Alyssa!!

Little background story:

We became friends in Orchestra toward the end of freshman year in high school. Wow … that seems very long ago.

We became really good friends and I thought of her as my best friend in high school.

We went our separate ways three years later for college.

Fast forward four years later and she has graduated, gotten engaged, and gotten into graduate school in Colorado.

How great is her life right now?

Because of the distance, we never got to hang out or talk like we did in high school.

Do I miss it? Of course.

But I understand. We’re all growing up and living our lives.

I still see her as one of my best friends and though we’ve made other best friends in the process, I hope she doesn’t forget about me. If that day ever comes I will be a very, very sad camper.

Just a little secret between you and me, it’s hard for me to trust people so still being friends with her for so many years means a lot to me.

Anyway, we met at Cheddar’s.

Right when I saw her I had excitement running through. All I wanted to do was see the ring …. and the ring is gorgeous! There are a lot of diamonds on it and it blinded my eyes. I know nothing of ring cuts soooo .. I won’t be able to describe it. Plus, she was glowing.

She told me her story of where she got engaged and how Greg planned it all. Her story is not mine to tell but let me just say .. there were 36 red roses, a picnic, and hiking involved.

We caught up and talked about everything from weddings, grad school, and work.

I hope one day her and I will work in the same company if not at least live in the same city so that we can continue our friendship and hang out and have fun.

Greg is a very lucky guy and I am so happy for my friend.

I don’t think she knows how happy I am for her.

Do you have a friend like I do with Alyssa? Are y’all still friends now?

Have you heard of The Spartacus Workout?

It’s from Men’s Health and though I’m not a man I’m thinking of trying it out. It’s 10 different moves that help melt fat and define muscles in your body.

It looks easy but I know once I do it, I’m going to die.

A plus is the model. He is cute! 😉

Oh! and you can download it to your iPhone or iTouch for free!! I downloaded it to my iTouch and have hopes of trying it out soon.

It’s the Lite version but it comes with other workouts too. You can always upgrade for a fee but I think I’ll be fine with just that.

Have you tried it? Did you like it? Did you see the difference?

Time to unwind. Another busy day tomorrow at work. Bleugh!
