I’ve been trying to get my workouts done earlier in the day so that I don’t dread it at night. Plus it gives me a surge of energy so hopefully this works out.

Like I said, doing them in seconds are harder than doing them in numbers. Sad smile The legs were the worst part.

Hopefully it gets easier by Friday when I repeat Monday’s workout. Here’s to hoping!

Catching Up

Whoo … this week has been catch up overload!

And I’m happy to say it will continue until Saturday. I cannot wait to see everyone in San Antonio! Hopefully I’ll get to see everyone. It’ll be hard since I’m only there for a couple days and there’s so many people I want to catch up with. Sad smile And hopefully I’ll get to see him, too. If not, I’ll be bummed.Annoyed But what can I do … anyway. Back on track.

Seeing Ed Monday night … great!

Seeing Michelle and Stephanie last night catching up on boys, work related things, and other fun stuff. We do movie nights once in a while and this time we watched 21 Jump Street. I’ve already seen it but I didn’t mind seeing it again. Love that movie. So freaking funny. If you haven’t seen it, go watch it!

And upon seeing them and getting back home, I get on Facebook (because my life revolves around social media … if you haven’t noticed) and I got an FB IM from Travis! Which ended up in us trying out the Facebook Video Chat for a little after an hour long. Miss talking to him. Face to face.

I love keeping in touch with people. But I must admit, I’m horrible at it when I’m away. I’m happy that there are still people that try to keep in touch with me. I hope it doesn’t change though. I’m trying hard to not pull away from people and keep the connection strong. So far, so good.

Do you tend to lose contact with your old friends? Do you seem to feel disconnected from them? Do you do something to fix it? If so, what do you do?

Ed! Starbucks!

Ran outside for the first time. Really run … with some walking of course. HAHA It felt painful but it went pretty well.

The arms confused me. Why only one set? Oh well. In parenthesis are how many I did. I think it went pretty well. It was tough. I know I’ll feel the burn tomorrow when I wake up! Because I already feel it right now.

I got to see an old high school friend of mine, Ed! We met at Starbucks and we caught up since we last saw each other … in December! Surprised smile We talked about the girl he liked and the boy I like. And all of our worries and wonders. He said I should give up. How disappointing of advice. I told him he should pursue the dang girl. Wonderful advice.

Time to shower. Eat dinner (later eater but I sleep late so it all works out). And relax (blog and watch shows).

Tiny Boxwoods Cafe

Yesterday I got to see my dear friend, Ed!

The 30+ minute drive was worth it since I got to catch up with him.

We ate at his restaurant

Tiny Boxwoods Café
3614 West Alabama Street
Houston, TX
(713) 622-4224

I don’t think this is the one though. They have more than one location and I cannot find a website so this is the one we’ll stick to. Anyway,

2012-01-05 12.29.02

Look at their menu board! It’s so cute!! You look at the menu by the door and then you order at the counter. Sit down and they bring the food to you. Smile

2012-01-05 12.34.26

They put a boxwood plant on each table. And their glasses are so cute!

2012-01-05 12.29.282012-01-05 12.43.32

I ordered the Chicken Pot Pie. I’m not sure how much it costs.

This was delicious … once I got used to the vinegar? that they put in it for that tart taste. The crust was super flaky and delicious. He actually made that the night before so it was pretty cool to try something he made.

I would go here again just to try all the other things.

Ed actually rooms with the pastry chef for Tiny Boxwood so I would hope to try that one day.

Time to change and get ready to go out and about.

Happy Friday! Open-mouthed smile

Heart Palpitations

I was just sitting here going through my Google Reader and commenting and what not while all of the sudden my Pandora plays some scary crap. Thanks for the heart palpitations, Pandora. I love the fact you put scary movies as an Ad. I can definitely sleep peacefully now.

Go listen to their “Country Love Song” station. It’s amazing!

Outdoorsy Man Wanted

I was looking at one of my friend’s albums on Facebook today. Creeper status right here. And wondered how fantabulous (is that a word?) it would be to find a guy friend that likes the outdoors. Given I sometimes dislike the heat, it would be nice to hike and do outdoorsy, athletic, fun stuff once in a while. So outdoorsy man, if you’re reading this, let’s be friends. We don’t have to date or anything.

The outdoors seem more of a manly thing in my head. But I guess if you’re a girl, you’ll suffice.

Who You’d Be Today by Kenny Chesney just came on … I guess it’s a love song …

Anyway, I should be going to bed. I finally get to see Ed in less than 10 hours! He got a job as a Chef and recently moved downtown. It would be great to see his new pad and catch up!

Night y’all! Open-mouthed smile

Black Walnut Café and Bravos Mexican Restaurant

How am I so full today?!Disappointed smile

My friend Ed and I met at Black Walnut Café but instead of the one in Sugar Land, it was the one in Cinco.

Black Walnut Café
23233 Cinco Ranch Blvd.
Katy, TX

I ordered the Garlic Cheese Bread for starters. I shared it with Ed. For the main meal I got the Grilled Cheese with Tomato Soup.

Nom Nom goodness.

If you followed me on Twitter you would of heard the words

Too much bread and cheese … dying.

That Garlic Cheese Bread is the devil … so good I couldn’t stop and cried was sad when it was over.

The soup wasn’t all that great and there was SO much cheese in that Grilled Cheese. If that’s how you roll, you would love it.

Thank goodness, I’m not lactose intolerant. I would of …. everywhere.Embarrassed smile

I was so full but Ed wanted to hang out some more before he had to go to work so we went to Starbucks down the street. He paid for my Green Tea Frap since I paid for the whole appetizer.

So good. I painted my nails too. Pretty? It’s the first time I painted them not a normal color.

Afterward I went home and played my guitar. Ed re-strung all the strings for me. I’m always afraid it will pop in my face (because that has happened before).

Reunited and it feels so good! SmileOpen-mouthed smileRolling on the floor laughing

I headed into Sugar Land to meet up with Amanda. It was suppose to be us and two of her other friends but they couldn’t make it. Oh well, more time for us to catch up!

I went to pick her up and we headed to:

Bravos Mexican Restaurant
4514 Texas 6
Sugar Land, TX
(281) 494-3340

We were there for Happy Hour. It was Amanda’s FIRST Happy Hour and I believe she said the first time she’s drank since her celebration.

We got free chips and dip. Yumm! Much needed with all that alcohol.

And by all that alcohol I mean, we each ordered …

Strawberry Margaritas. There is too much alcohol in that shizz. I know for sure now I really DO NOT like ANY margaritas. Beer for me please.

The lovely Amanda with her marg.

After much talking and sucking that baby down, I drove her home and headed home.

See .. not much eating all day. That meal in the morning got me. Dang cheese. I don’t even like you!

After reading Rachael’s post about Recommitting, I hopped on the treadmill.

I obviously did not do a 6 mile tempo run like she did (I haven’t even reached to that point yet!) but I did do a 25 minute run and a 25 minute butt and thigh exercise.

I feel better already but it’s going to be hard to go back to how I did three weeks ago.

I should of not quitted for so long! Ah, you’re stupid, Melissa.

But I did better than I thought. I even up-ed the tempo a little more than I usually did.

Thanks, Rachael, for that post. You saved me.

Now I’m sucking down a blueberry smoothie with too much milk. I ran out of yogurt so it’s mostly milk and ice. Still delicious.

I know for sure I need to eat something so I think I’m going to jump into the shower, then do so.

Tomorrow is going to be another Food-venture!! My mum and I will be attending lunch at one of the Houston Restaurant Week restaurant. Then I can cross it off my Bucket List!

C25K: Week 8 aka: Final Week!

I’m currently typing up this post,

catching up with Ugly Betty Season 4,

and eating the worst blueberry smoothie on the face of the planet.

But because I don’t like to waste food … I’m sucking it all up.

Moving on …

5 Warm Up, 30 Run, 5 Cool Down

Everything seemed to be going well til I got to Run 15. How was I already tired?!

I had to slow down a little which made me pretty sad.

I’m thinking that after C25K, I’m going to keep running the 30 but trying to get more distance.

Mmm … goals. Let’s hope I reach them.

Only two more days!

I have a busy week after work hours. If all goes according to plan, I get to see Alyssa tomorrow, Amanda Thursday, FTK Skype meeting with Ryan Z. Friday, and hang out with Ed and watch Community on Saturday. I have a feeling some things won’t go according to plan but one can hope!

Have a good rest of Monday! 🙂

Never give up …

… no matter how tired you are.

I came home around 3:30pm. Thank goodness. I ate dinner early since I was going out to eat again. I knew I would be hungry if I ate later anyway since I planned to run after the celebration.

Doesn’t make sense, does it? Yep … I’m making it up because I was just simply hungry.

Sunny side up eggs on a bed of spinach, bagel thin with Nutella knockoff spread, a handful of jalapeno chips (so not healthy!). So good.

Small sweet potato with yogurt. Yum!

Yeahh … that’s a lot of food even if I was going out to eat again. But it was so good.

Then I took a nap. 😉

When 7:30pm rolled around I got ready for my friend, Ed’s birthday. It was just me and the boys (Ed, Ryan, Daniel). Just how I liked it. Sadly John was missing. 😦 Next time, next time.

We had dinner at:

2706 Westheimer Road
Houston, TX
(713) 524-1700

As all Mexican places have it, Chips and Salsa. Yum!! We had another basket of chips and bowl of salsa. That’s how yummy it was!

Mmm .. sounds good to me! Thanks Chuy’s! 😀

Our food came very quickly. I got the Soft Tacos [two tacos with lettuce, cheese, pico, and your choice of ground sirloin, grilled chicken, or carne guisada. (Also available with guacamole instead of meat for a vegetarian option). Tacos served with rice and reffried or charro beans] | $8.47. I don’t think it’s the same as the menu I saw since this came from the take out menu. It was very delicious. I was so full afterward. I left the cheese on my plate but ate everything else. Delicious.

I would love to come here again and am happy that they have opened one in Katy! It’s so close to home! Yay!

We went to Sherlock’s Baker Street Pub. Yay!

If you look on the bottom left hand corner, you can see a drink. I bought it for my friend, Ryan, since it seemed he was having a bad day. (He went to the wrong Chuy’s.) Apparently the drink is called Sex on Baker Street. He liked it. I didn’t drink. I felt like puking from all that greasy food.

And I want it so damn badly. So I came home to rest a little bit then changed and started my C25K: Week 6 – Run 3.

Warm up 5, Run 25, Cool down 25

I debated for the longest time if I should suck it up and run … so I did. I kept saying in my head, this is the last one for the week. Why give up now?! So .. I went and conquered.

Luckily my arch didn’t hurt so that’s good. I seriously love longer runs than intervals. When can I stop doing intervals?! 😦

I came home and almost passed out on the floor. That’s how tired I was.

My boys (the ones I was hanging out with previously for the birthday celebration) went to a laser tag lock-in. I chose running over that. I must be going crazy.

Time to relax. Weekend is here!

Oh … head over to Fit Chick Britt. She’s asking for pictures of you sporting the make up free look for her future post!!

Baker Street Pub & Grill

After The Continental Club, Ryan dropped me and Ed off at:

Baker St. Pub & Grill
23501 Cinco Ranch Blvd.
Katy, TX 77494
(281) 693-0500

We had invited Katie so we waited for her. The Ruse was playing.

They also have live bands on certain days and today was their day. I actually liked them. They played a lot of songs that I knew and they were funny! I couldn’t get a good enough picture but we would have to make due with this. Let’s just say the lighting was REALLY dark. I was getting hungry so I ordered:

Warm Kettle Cooked Chips [with ranch dressing] | ~$3. It just tasted like regular kettle chips with no flavor. The ranch definitely made a big difference in how the chips tasted. I don’t think I will ever order these again.

Since my appetite was not satisfied, I ordered:

Potato Skins [with bacon, cheddar cheese, and green onions, served with ranch dressing] | ~$6. It had more potato on the skin than I remembered. That definitely got me full. I wished they gave me sour cream instead of the ranch dressing though. I’m not a fan of ranch so sour cream would have definitely been better for me.

You must think I scarfed these down. I shared happily with my friends so don’t worry! I love to share the joy of food, as long as you don’t touch it without my permission. That’s one of my pet peeves.

An old friend from high school, Nick, came to join us. He got a dirty martini. That was the first time I’ve ever seen one in front of me. They smelled funky. I’m guessing that scent came from the olives.

This night has got to be one of the best ones I’ve had in a long time. Before Nick got there, Katie, Ed, and I talked about EVERYTHING. And it was nice to talk to them like that because we rarely do. I’m glad they are in my life.

Mum, June, and I went to a new place to eat tonight but I’m tired from posting the night before’s happenings so I’ll save that til later. I have to pack because I’m heading back to my college tomorrow morning. Night!

The Continental Club

Last night Ed, Ryan, and I drove to:

The Continental Club
3700 Main Street
Houston, TX 77002
(713) 529-9899

to watch a live band, The Beetles play The Beatles songs. They’re there every Thursday night jamming out. And sell $3 Lone Stars. I didn’t drink though. But the boys did. Oh did I mention that the band plays by request? They’ve obviously heard every single Beatles song in the world! So talented!

I did however buy a hot dog. It was only $1. They were out of hot dog buns so we had ours on a hamburger bun. Still delicious. I topped mine with three jalapenos and ketchup and mustard.

Funny story: They had an old RC machine there and Ryan thought it worked. When we walked up to it to find out how to use it, a guy comes and says, “It doesn’t work. They sell them at the bar”. It was also funny because Ryan felt it and said it felt cold; I’m guessing it’s because of the weather. And it did have a sticker saying that this RC is out and that this one isn’t. Normal people would believe that it worked.

Anyway, it’s packed with people in the working world. Not much college kids like us there. It was fun nonetheless. A good place to go to listen to some great music.
