Bridal Expo + June’s Birthday

Yesterday was SUCH a great day! We got discounted tickets to the Bridal Expo and I was super excited. I’ve always wanted to go just to see all the pretty decorations!

20120825_091833IMG_20120825_095056

Mum, June, and I drove out to Sissy’s. Her and Brett went and got us Pappas!! Mmm their breakfast tacos are the best! I had a potato egg and cheese and a sausage egg and cheese. With lots and lots of salsa.

And a side of Bruno. haha

IMG_20120825_123556

Walked past the pretty wall at Discovery Green on the way to the Bridal Expo. Kinda want my walls to be like this with some protruding blocks to put stuff on. Saves a lot of room!

20120825_105354

We finally made it!

20120825_105547IMG_20120825_123949

Sissy’s little button and my sticker. Used so it’s easy to differentiate to the vendors who’s who. Smart!

20120825_10565020120825_10565820120825_123330

They had such pretty decorations … sometimes. And GORGEOUS pictures! And even a few fashion shows. The dresses weren’t so great though. I didn’t like any of them.

20120825_12281920120825_122828

We got thirsty so we got a Peach Smoothie. Too sweet. Bleugh. And definitely didn’t quench my thirst.

The only thing I felt was great about the Bridal Expo were the photo booths. Sissy and I went to all four of them. She got tired of taking pictures but I insisted and she powered through. Great memories. I’m going to stick them on my cubicle at work since I have nothing in my cubicle. No pictures since I don’t think she wants her face plastered on my blog. Sad smile

20120825_133058

And I bought a popsicle from the Ice Cream Truck! My first time!! Do you want to hear something ridiculous? Of course … the eyeballs are made out of gum. WHY WOULD YOU PUT GUM ON A POPSICLE?!?!?!

20120825_14111620120825_14313420120825_143143

We went back to Sissy’s apartment and my mum and I stuck our stickers on Bruno! So cute.

Then afterward he went outside and sunbathed. He loves the sun. Ain’t he a cutie?

20120825_16130520120825_161338

We left and on the way home this is what happened … in a span of 30 seconds.

20120825_18490320120825_18550520120825_19020520120825_19021220120825_190214

We then met up with Dad and celebrated June’s birthday. It’s not till the 30th but since it’s on the weekday, Asians have a thing of not celebrating after the birthday. Only before or the day of. So much good food!

IMG_20120825_203403

On the drive home after the rain. Such a pretty colour in the sky.

20120825_211900

Then we had cake. Black Forest. Not a fan of this Black Forest. It had some stinkin’ gross cherries. But the shaved chocolate was delicious. It tasted like dark chocolate!

Such a fun filled day. Sadly I was too tired. Bleugh. And tomorrow’s work. I am not ready. This weekend was too short.

Hope y’all have a great Monday though! Smile

Day 10: Organic Foods + More Pigeons + Beer

First things first … I changed my layout! It’s very simple but less kiddish than the last one. I’m thinking of redoing my header but I’ll wait to think about that until I’m back in the States.

IMG_7915

Woke up and had brunch with mum at this place.

IMG_7920IMG_7916IMG_7917

Soya Bean Milk (Cold)
Sour Prune Juice (Cold)
Braised Eggplant with Garlic & Chili
Garlic Stewed Green Beans

The Soya Bean Milk was delicious. I can’t say the same for the Sour Prune Juice.

The Braised Eggplant was super salty while the Garlic Green Beans had no taste.

IMG_7919IMG_7921IMG_7922

Stir Fried Rice with Minced Pork & Preserved Turnip
Noodle Soup with Deep Fried Spare Ribs in Spicy Sesame Sauce

The Stir Fried Rice was to die for. I can go back and eat ONLY that. Actually that’s what my mum plans to do that and what’s below.

The Noodle was a fail. Nothing special and the Spare Ribs are just like any other Fried Pork Chop here in Hong Kong.

IMG_7923

Pan Fried Pork Dumplings

So good. They had a lot of juice in it. Just how I like my dumplings! A lot of it squirted out … which I was sad about. Sad smile

I love trying new foods but we seriously always order too much. It’s a good thing there’s something called a take out box.

IMG_7924IMG_7925IMG_7926IMG_7927

Then Mum and I went to an Organic shop next door. Happiness. I bought the Veggie Chips … let’s see if it tastes better here or in the States. I’m betting the States. Winking smile It’s all made in Taiwan … so if it tastes amazing, you better bet I’ll stock up when I’m there.

Picture0003

I still haven’t gotten my haircut … because I’m lazy … so this is what my hair looks like … Every. Single. Day. I miss my bangaroos. But it’s so hot here anyway that putting your hair up feels better than having hair stuck all over your face and neck.

Picture0004

Enjoying some ice cream Vincent and Rachel got me yesterday. Too sweet … but so good on this hot, hot day. I didn’t finish it all .. of course. Ice cream never was my favorite. I’ll save it for later.

IMG_7934

Mum bought some for Sissy because they were apparently on sale. But I think I’m gonna steal some. For those that don’t know what it is, it’s little Koala Bear Cookies filled with Chocolate. Brings me back to childhood. Winking smile

IMG_7938IMG_7944

Dinner came and PoPo asked Kathy to buy beer! Whoo hoo. The Asian way is no cups. In bowls. Smile with tongue out

IMG_7942IMG_7943IMG_7940IMG_7941

More pigeon. PoPo knew I liked it so she went out and bought Kathy, Mum, herself, and I one!! You can see the heads popping out. And that even bothers me. Luckily, they popped the head off of mine because that’s just straight up gross.

… veggies, tofu, eggplant and hot pepper with pork.

So. Damn. Good.

One thing I’ll surely miss when I leave is PoPo’s cooking.

Macau

Off to Macau later to stay in a hotel tonight with Kathy, Mum, and Rachel. I’m a day early so … I’ll already be there while y’all just start y’all’s Saturday. Weird huh? How it’s actually Friday right now but it’s Saturday for me? Smile with tongue out Then the fun begins the next day when Vincent and Alva joins us after work. I’m not sure if I’ll be able to go through without my HKID and with just my Passport so we shall see. Fingers crossed! If all goes well, we’ll be making amazing memories. Else, it’s back to the flat and to the mountain tops instead. Either way, win win!

Day 9: Chinese Doctor + Gai See + Pigeons

IMG_7892IMG_7894IMG_7893

Brunch consisted of curry pork with rice. Mum had some and she had the red bean ice as well. I stuck with water. I’m not a big fan of curry, but I can never stay away from Chinese curry. It’s different. Try it and you’ll understand.

IMG_7895

Then I went to a Chinese Doctor … because there’s a lot of things wrong with me. bahaha Two of those drinks are mine. It’s bitter and tastes like .. shit. It’s suppose to fix my problems in three doses. So that means two cups times three … Kill. Me. Now.

IMG_7901IMG_7902IMG_7903IMG_7904IMG_7896IMG_7897IMG_7898IMG_7899IMG_7900

Then we had Dim Sum again. After 2pm. Discount. Plus it was the last meal before Alva had to start work. Since I was so full from my early eatings and medicine I only ate a little while PoPo, Mum, and Alva ate the rest.

Pig intestines are still one of my favorites.

IMG_7908

We went to a store to buy bracelets and earrings. We walked away with 2 bracelets and about 5 earrings. Crazy huh? I don’t have ear holes. They’re for my fams. Excited to give it to them!

IMG_7905

Bought a cake roll for funsies. Yum!

Then Mum and I went grocery shopping … Gai See. This is what it usually looks like the old school way below. My favorite way of shopping for foods. I got the pictures online because they don’t let you take pictures and if they see you they will chase you with their butcher knives. Jokes but … seriously. They don’t like it.

Vegetables and fruit stands tend to look like this.

639a0e3fd9eff1f6666202f633719f8b_large

Fish or any seafood tends to look like this. They don’t care if you’re near … if you’re close by, you will get splashed. Don’t ever wear pretty clothes to grocery shopping …

691843-Live_chicken_vendor_in_Public_Market_Hong_Kong

Live chickens they will kill in front of your dang face.

SuperStock_1840-8541

Pork and beef is hung up and you get to chose and pick. So much redness!

IMG_7906IMG_7907

We ended up buying some Chinese lettuce along with Pigeon.

Yes. You got that right. Pigeon. Fried Pigeon at that. Don’t knock it till you try it. It might look like duck but it’s 100 times better.

We didn’t buy much because PoPo already had some groceries in the fridge.

Dinner for five … PoPo, Mum, Vincent, Rachel, and meeeeeee

IMG_7911IMG_7912

Other than pigeon we had the cooked lettuce, fried fish …

IMG_7913IMG_7909

… pork ribs and soup with carrots beef and some other junk that is suppose to be good for you.

So good. I love PoPo’s cooking!

IMG_7914

After dinner, Rachel and Vincent went to get ice cream and brought me back some … Belgian Triple Chocolate. I was too full to eat a bite of it but apparently it’s all mine.

Good day. Pork intestine AND pigeon all in one day! Smile

Trudy’s and Amy’s

During Halloween weekend, we had some adventures.

Me, Jenny, Tammy, Brian, Richard, Susan, Peter, Michelle, Wilson P., Long, and Steven all went to:

Trudy’s
409 West 30th Street
Austin, TX
(512) 477-2935
www.trudys.com

We had to split up with seating so I sat with Peter, Susan, and Michelle.

2011-10-30 15.01.28

It comes with free chips and two different salsa dips. We had already eaten halfway until I realized I had to take a picture. Whoops!

Us four ate at least four times this if not more. It was that good!

2011-10-30 15.30.052011-10-30 15.30.23

Beef Fajita Ala Mexicana [tender beef fajita meat marinated in a soy-ginger spice blend and sautéed with onions, cilantro, jalapenos, tomatoes and lime juice. Garnished with a small salad and sliced avocado. Served with Spanish rice, borracho beans and a choice of tortillas] | $12.50

I got a choice of corn tortillas. Omgosh … I about died. The meat was so juicy and succulent. I was very full. I wasn’t even halfway full. (Maybe it was the chips?) But I made sure to finish ALL the meat. Because it would be a waste if I didn’t.

After we ate, Wilson P., Michelle, Steven, and I were heading back to the apartment and stopped by

Irish Crème with a waffle cone and sprinkles | ~$5

I’ve never had ice cream with alcohol before so it was a good experience. I couldn’t taste the alcohol but Wilson P. and Michelle thinks it’s filled with it. Hmm …

This was what sparked my ice cream with sprinkles addiction with the last post I made. It was that good. Sadly Amy’s is the best ice cream place I’ve ever been.

Picture Bomb

I finally figured how to get pictures out my phone. I’m slow. Leave me alone.

Here are some random pictures!! They’re all pretty much food except for one. Winking smile

2011-10-29 01.28.56

10.28.11 with Jenny and Richard at the apartment.

My first Negra Modelo. So delicious. So dark.

10.30.11 with Jenny and Richard at Kumori Sushi & Teppanyaki.

L: Hand Grenade. My favorite at Kumori. So dang delicious!

R: I don’t remember what rolls we got but the top is Richard & Jenny’s. The bottom was mine.

Seriously. If you ever go to San Antonio and have a craving for sushi, go here.

2011-10-31 20.03.22

10.31.11 with Trisha at Coldstone.

She needed someone to talk to so we went and got ice cream. This is the first time I’ve ever ordered ice cream in a waffle bowl dipped in chocolate. The ice cream flavor is cinnamon and I got sprinkles mixed in.

I only got cinnamon because the guy that worked there said he liked the cinnamon the best. He was cute so I went with it. Yum! It was so delicious!

11.02.11 alone in the apartment. Sad smile

I hate bread. Okay, not hate but dislike it with a passion. But I love sandwich thins!! They taste so much better!! And I bought my first ever Quorn soy patties. This is in the form of cheese burger. They taste better than they smell.

I also had a side of romaine lettuce. And dipped it in some Annie’s Naturals Organic Cowgirl Ranch. It’s okay. I’m not a big fan of it. I won’t go out and get it again but I’ll definitely try the other flavors.

I’m a college student so sometimes when I’m lazy to wash dishes, I put wax paper, saran wrap, or foil on the plate so I can just take it off and not have to wash. Whoops. Smile with tongue out

2011-11-04 11.22.152011-11-04 11.41.05

11.04.11 alone in the apartment

My first ever, Amy’s Pizza Pesto. The one on the left is the original. I added some mushrooms on it so that I can get fuller. Hence the difference on the right.

I want more!!! It was delicious. (I needed new words describing amazing foods!)

2011-11-05 20.56.08

11.05.11 with Gary and Katrina at Coldstone.

They wanted to hang out and talk about random stuff and they wanted ice cream … so we got ice cream. Now you know why I’m nowhere near to losing weight?

This one’s cake batter with sprinkles rolled in.

2011-11-06 18.59.31

11.06.11 with Tammy at Rudy’s

We had a lot of leftovers. I ate it for another three meals after this.

2011-11-09 14.36.08

11.09.11 alone at the shuttles

Just wanted to end it with not food.

I will be updating some places we went to now that I’ve figured how to get it out my phone!! So keep a look out!!
