Is It My Birthday?

Because it feels like my birthday today.

One of our servers were down so I didn’t have to do a lot of my work til the end of the day.

And with that I went out for lunch with two coworkers, Shelly and Philippa, for Pho. PHO YEAH! ha Get it?

And when we got back, the power went out for a brief moment which means all the work I did POOF! gone! And no, I couldn’t have saved it if I wanted to. There’s no saving work at our job. You do until you click that button. Pfft … so a group of us got into an office and just talked for awhile. LOVE!

By the time we got our computers back up and running, it was time for cake. Yep, you read that right. CAKE. Someone was leaving and a new person was taking her place so we celebrate, in a way, for all her hard work. I didn’t eat cake. I gave my piece to the diabetic, Tony C. Yep. That’s right. He ate two pieces.

And by the time that ended, there was only a couple hours left. But it didn’t end there …

I pretty much get the mail everyday when I come home and today I got to turn the special key that goes into the box which always means there’s a big ass package inside that didn’t fit in your usual box! Happy danced in the middle of the street. One of my online shopping stuff came!

Then upon coming to the front door, another package awaited me. Two packages in one day?! Another happy dance in front of my house. Whoopie!! There had been problems with the new phone that I got in Hong Kong so I shipped it back to Kathy who got the problem fixed and sent it back to me along with some other stuff!

Now it works like a charm. I got a new phone and it’s better than yours. That’s all that matters.

And if that’s not enough, tomorrow is FRIDAY.

Which means I get to leave an hour early and possibly even early since I’ve worked overtime. And I get to eat lunch with Rose. AND going to a nearby shelter to search for a cute little face.

EEEEEP!

Think Good Thoughts, y’all!

Peace & Love

Day 22: Last Day, Sad Day

Not a good day for pictures. I packed my bags and forgot to take my camera with me when I went out the door.

I had Dim Sum for brunch with PoPo and Mum. Then Mum and I went shopping and bought a lot of little things. Last day … had to buy, buy, buy!

After that, all I did was sleep and play on the computer. Very relaxing.

Dinner of Pigeon, intestines, veggies, and homemade soup. Going to miss PoPo’s cooking.

I’m up in the air right now flying high in the sky.

Next time I “talk” to y’all will be when I’m back in the states.

Peace and Love.

Day 21: Samsung Galaxy S3!!

IMG_8450IMG_8462

The aftermath of the storm … not that bad over here but it’s worse other parts of Hong Kong.

IMG_8453IMG_8454IMG_8455IMG_8456

Ate at another Shanghai Restaurant … Shanghai Po Po Restaurant. Not as great as yesterdays but it was okay.

IMG_8457

Saw this view while walking in the mall. More aftermath cleaning up and people shopping and whatnot.

IMG_8472

Got a haircut … finally. This is the best picture I can show you … I didn’t take any except for this one.

I want to come back once a year for a haircut … from this place … by Brenda. YES.

Oh … and did I mention. When they wash your hair, they go through a long process? They put stuff in my hair and rinsed and repeated four times. And they massage your head. I’m not a great fan of it but dude … I almost fell asleep.

IMG_8463IMG_8464

We bought some piggie bread and cakes for Vincent and Alva since they had to go to work.

IMG_8473

Mum and I met Kathy at one of the subway stops. Then we went to Ladies’ Market. A place where people open their own shops on the streets and you can buy things. I went down the whole street but only a few things caught my eye … for other people.

IMG_8474IMG_8475

When we were leaving going to the subway, Mum wanted some fishballs so fishballs we got. And I finally got my STINKY TOFU! Real stinky tofu. Not like the ones in Taiwan where they were not stinky enough. Ah .. heaven.

(photo via)

Kathy bought me this little beauty … without letting me know! Samsung Galaxy S3. Sahweet! I cannot wait to physically use it. (I have to wait till I’m back in the States …) I’ve been playing with it and I’m already in love. Winking smile

IMG_8477IMG_8478IMG_8476

Dinner was intestines with noodles, veggies, and fried fish skin.

Done deal.

Bags are packed .. hopefully we aren’t overloaded.

Day 20: All We Do Is Eat

IMG_8437IMG_8438IMG_8439IMG_8440IMG_8444IMG_8441IMG_8442IMG_8443IMG_8436IMG_8435

Due to going to bed late, I woke up at a good 1pm. YEP! Waited for Vincent and we didn’t eat till 3pm. Just Mum, Vincent, and I at a Shanghai restaurant and all the foods … we are fatties for sure. So GOOD!

Since there was a thunderstorm warning there wasn’t ANY one at the restaurant except us. And when we went shopping later after eating one of the stores literally said, “Are you done? It’s thunder storming and we want to go home …”

Wonderful. So all I ended up with was ONE Essie nail polish.

IMG_8447IMG_8449IMG_8446IMG_8448

What dinner consisted of. PoPo was sick so she got congee while the rest of us (Mum, Kathy, Vincent, Rachel, and I) gobbled on all the pizza and many chickens.

Somehow we ended up with a good 14 pieces of fried chicken …. holy mackerel. We obviously didn’t finish it all …

The dang storm won’t let up. It is bipolar. It’ll rain then stop then rain then stop and on and on … Sad smile

Fingers crossed tomorrow will be better!

Day 19: Food Galore

IMG_8375IMG_8376IMG_8377IMG_8378IMG_8379
IMG_8380IMG_8381IMG_8372IMG_8373IMG_8374

Dim Sum with Mum, PoPo, Kathy, Vincent, and Rachel. YUM!

IMG_8382IMG_8383

Still no Victoria Peak … it started to rain when we got into a bus sans PoPo and we went to some kind of village place instead. It’s by the Ocean Theme Park! Look at the mountains!

IMG_8389

We bought some snacks …. and this is the BEST out of all of them! Smile Smile

IMG_8393IMG_8399

We shopped a bit then walked around the ocean.

IMG_8402

Funny car license …

IMG_8429IMG_8430IMG_8431IMG_8405IMG_8406IMG_8407IMG_8408IMG_8409IMG_8410IMG_8411IMG_8412IMG_8413IMG_8414IMG_8415IMG_8416IMG_8417IMG_8419IMG_8420IMG_8421IMG_8422IMG_8423IMG_8424IMG_8425IMG_8426IMG_8427IMG_8428IMG_8432

We then went to ALL YOU CAN EAT Japanese food! … Bad service. I think their place is called Kushi … Horrible horrible people. But the food isn’t bad. I’d only go if I wanted good food but not if I was very hungry.

Lately all we’ve done is eat … I feel like I’m stuffed to the brim … but so worth it. Smile

It’s thunder storming over here … so we haven’t done anything at all. This makes for a sad Melissa. Only 3-4 more days here … and it’s spent indoors. SHUCKS!

Day 18: Thunderstorm Warning

IMG_8357IMG_8358

Since I heard the news of sissy’s engagement I was too excited to fall back to sleep so I went to Kathy and Mum. Breakfast is served. The little doggies taste way different. Less sodium or something I guess.

Then we bought some cakes for PoPo.

Went home and relaxed a little bit then shopped a little more.

photo

Had lunch … soooo good. This sausage was a jumbo and taste so much better!

We had plans to go somewhere but … thunderstorm warning made us stay in instead. Mum and I packed our luggage to see how much we can fit and all that jazz. Overload. We will figure it out later.

Then dinner was served. Obviously we didn’t do much today.

IMG_8364IMG_8365IMG_8368IMG_8366IMG_8367IMG_8369

So good. My favorite is the first two eats. I want to have it again before I leave but I highly doubt it.

IMG_8370IMG_8371

Since we didn’t do much tonight and we had to cancel our plans, Kathy decided to buy tickets to watch the 12:30am showing of The Dark Knight Returns.

Oh hello, Joseph Gordon-Levitt. Winking smile

Their popcorn is different here … it’s CARAMEL popcorn. HOLY MOLY! Too sweet but so crunchy good!

We didn’t get out of the theater till around 3am! But it was so worth it. Love when sexy men are trying to save the world …

Day 16: Official Hong Kong ID!

IMG_8310

Woke up and had brunch with Mum at Festive 21. A Korean restaurant.

IMG_8315IMG_8316

Mum ordered a cappuccino and I got an Iced Lemon Tea!

IMG_8312IMG_8311

Our soup. I drank a spoonful or so and gave the rest to Mum.

IMG_8313IMG_8314

My dinner roll and her garlic bread. Gave both to her.

IMG_8317

My Spinach risotto with duck breast. OMG. So good. I’m in love with risotto now. Anyone have any good recipes? I’ve only had my sissy’s but it’ll be nice to have other choices as well!

IMG_8318IMG_8319

Then we went and got my Hong Kong ID! Finally! It’s in my hands safe and sound. The bottom left hand corner of my picture is holographic. So cool!

I have a place to run to now. Winking smile

IMG_8321IMG_8320IMG_8324IMG_8322IMG_8323

After a little shopping Mum and I grabbed a bite to eat. Mum got shark fin soup with fried chicken while I got the french toast with peanut butter. Coffee and Milk Tea to follow.

IMG_8331IMG_8325

Finally got the postcards! Written. Stamped. And ready to be mailed.

And I got a collector’s item of a comic that I use to read when I younger. Excited. I haven’t opened it yet.

IMG_8328

Dinner was served by Kathy. She stopped by a place by her work.

I got noodles with intestine and a type of beef. They got noodles with beef or pork. An order of fried wontons and PoPo cooked us veggies! YUM!

The night then ended with lots of laughter while watching a Chinese show on the telly.

Day 12: Macau Sightseeing + More Gambling

Vincent and Alva arrived to Macau in the morning because they work nights. So they didn’t get much sleep or anything. Probably a good 4 to 5 hours.

Vincent was being a menace. Rachel and I were still sleepy and he goes and opens the curtains. Pure evil. But he did take a gorgeous panoramic picture!

a

I gave up my bed to Alva since he worked and came to Macau to hang out with us. Gotta be nice and all that jazz. We slept until 12pm. Winking smile I only got at least 3 hours in all though with all that was going on but that’s okay. Memories, right?

IMG_8046

We walked out of the hotel and started looking for food. A picture of the view while walking. Smile

All the food places Rachel and Vincent knew about were not opened … wtf. So we resulted in eating what we know best. Congee and Wonton!

IMG_8054IMG_8055IMG_8056IMG_8057IMG_8058IMG_8059

Tang Jai Jook (Tang Jai Congee) with Peanuts, Fish Slices, Squid, Pork, Pork Skin, Pork Stomach
Plain Wontons
Veggies
More Veggies
Fried Wontons
Pigs Blood with Chives

Mmmm … The Tang Jai Jook was delicious. I wouldn’t add so much stuff in it though. It was all in my bowl and I wished I had more jook instead. No one wishes for that but I’m weird.

Everything else was good. Can’t say the same for the Fried Wonton. But then again, I’m not a big fan of wontons.

IMG_8072

We started walking to our destination tourist spot. Look at all the people. This picture does not do it justice. After a long walk and bumping into many people … we made it.

IMG_8073IMG_8095

Oh hello building … I don’t know why you’re important. Is that bad?

Alva walked with me to the very top up those many stairs. Thanks cuz! Everyone else was too lazy. We walked around for a good 5 minutes when we reached the top then headed back down.

I must say that Macau is definitely way hotter than Hong Kong. And much more humid.

IMG_8102IMG_8103

Just some pictures of buildings and whatnot.

IMG_8105

Oh and mopeds rule the world here in Macau. Weird. They don’t care if you’re an elderly … they will run you over if you’re slow.

IMG_8108

Then we jumped into a taxi … two since you can only fit four per taxi and we had six … and we headed to a casino.

Oh … did I also mention the taxi drivers zoom really fast and most of the time I feel like I’m going to die. This is coming from a speeder …

When we got there, we walked around the Casino … we didn’t play anything because it was super expensive to put down a bet … and we’re not gamblers so we were all a little scared.

IMG_8114IMG_8118IMG_8117

Afterward, we walked around the building and saw this …

It’s an inside building … all the clouds you think you see are fake and painted on the ceiling. Sweet huh? It’s much more real in person.

Oh and they have a “river” running through where you can pay and sit on the boat. On one of the boats, a dude sings whatever dialect you can speak and he is good. Very. Good.

IMG_8121

We all stopped at the McDonald’s there and got either Ice Cream, French Fries, or Coffee (which was much needed for some). I got a McFlurry. Pretty much the same price as the States … but they give you less. This. Is. Why. America. Is. Fat.

Oh and the ice cream tastes better over here. I’m not being biased. Promise.

IMG_8125IMG_8128IMG_8129

Then we rode a bus to the dock. Got our free tickets at the ferry station.

Walked through a long tunnel … and into another Casino. Some won, some lost. (I won 24.50 in Hong Kong dollars … which isn’t much. But it’s better than losing it all.)

Then we walked back through the long ass tunnel in time to get on our ferry. Smile

Goodbye, Macau. Hello, Hong Kong.

When we got there we were walking through a mall and they made me do this …

IMG_8131IMG_8133

… because they think the figure (made out of balloons) looks like me. It was embarrassing doing that for a good three times so that Rachel can take the picture. Best one … even with the other half cut off. Oh well … I realize I lift higher … and I’m kicking her in the face. Sweet.

IMG_8142IMG_8143IMG_8135IMG_8136IMG_8137IMG_8138IMG_8139IMG_8140IMG_8141

Dinner was served. We made sure we invited PoPo along too so we ate close to the flat. I’m not a big fan of the foods we ordered but it wasn’t all horrible. I don’t think I would go to this place again though. And if you were wondering … it’s Thai food. But this was too Thai for me … haha

IMG_8145

On our walk back to the flat, Alva and I stopped by the little playground area and he showed me he can do pull ups. I was surprised … and impressed. He’s a tiny … but a little taller than me. I guestimate a good 5’ 8” to 5’ 10”. I haven’t been able to do one since I quit basketball in high school. Eeep.

Picture0005Picture0007

Vincent and Rachel went to buy Tong Sui and got me a Hot Sesame Tong Sui! Then Mum opened up one of the foods she bought in Macau … dried squid. I’m not a fan of this kind of dried squid but I ate it anyway. Fattie right hurr.

Macau is a great place to go to have a little fun. I would love to go there again when I have the chance. Maybe by then I’ll be making enough dough to wear I can bet a little more money in those machines. Those are the only ones I feel comfortable enough to play cuz I hate all the staring and crowdedness. Makes me nervous.

I am finally settled in the hotel in Taiwan. Saw my cousin, Wilson, and his wife so all is well so far. Except I already have negatives on Taiwan. Not what I wanted. More on that later gators.

Peace and Love.

Day 11: New Purse! + Macau!

IMG_7953IMG_7954

Iced Green Tea
Iced Lemon Tea

IMG_7951IMG_7955

Baked Pork Chop with Rice
Roasted Pork with Eggs with Rice

Brunch was served. Yum! I’ve been waiting for my Baked Pork Chop with Rice … sadly it’s not as good as where I get it in the States. Sad smile Waste.

IMG_7956

Still on that medicine shiet. Nasty. They didn’t cook my medicine in time so I have to mix my own. WTF. They should give us money back. When you use the instant mix, it’s not as affective. But I like this way better. It’s not as bitter and I can drink it pretty much whenever I want in that time period.

IMG_7960IMG_7957IMG_7958IMG_7959IMG_7963

After we got our medicine, Mum and I went shopping. Something for the brother (don’t tell bro what it is sissy!), candies, earrings, and a purse!

I needed it a new purse since the one I brought over started turning colors. Sad smile It was so cute too so I’m very depressed. But this purse is cute.

IMG_7961

PoPo bought some Little Chicken Bread. Not a fan but I took one anyway since she offered.

Then Kathy came home along with Rachel and we got ready for Macau sans PoPo. Eeeep! So excited. We rode on the subway then walked to the ferry place.

IMG_7964

When we got to the ferry place, we stopped by Starbucks.

They have Green Tea Frappuccino with Red Bean!! Mmmm … so good. I wish they had it in the States! Only thing that sucked was when I tried to suck up the beans and it got stuck in the straw. They need bigger straws …

We got a phone call to meet Dicky on the other side … so we bought our tickets and got on the ferry.

IMG_7967IMG_7966

The inside looks exactly like the inside of an airplane. Only thing different is there’s more leg room!

I went into the bathroom to pee … and uh … all I can say is you need strong leg muscles to piss on a ferry.

When we got to Macau … after a long ferry ride we met up with Dicky and then headed to dinner.

IMG_7983

In a taxi! I can cross that off my list. Winking smile

IMG_7974IMG_7977

We had Pork Bone Hot Pot. Look at all that bone. Sooo good. You can suck the marrow out of the bone … with a straw. LOVE!

IMG_7975IMG_7978

So we hot potted and cooked meat and fish.

IMG_7981IMG_7979

Had fried FROGS. Yep you red that right. and Clams.

I was hesitant with the frogs but I’ll try anything once … so yep … I can’t help but keep having frogs jumping around in my head. So that made it difficult to put into my mouth. Frogs tastes JUST like chicken. Mmmm …

IMG_7982

We rode the Hotel bus to the hotel.

IMG_7985

Um .. I would like this in my room please.

IMG_7999

Sweeeet. One of the top floors! Rachel and I went into this one while Mum and Kathy went onto the 25th floor one.

IMG_8001

Nice. Ass. View.

IMG_8007

Whatchu know about them see through bathrooms? So cool. Bathtub. Standing shower. Toilet. Of course you can pull down the curtain though so no one can see when you’re naked.

IMG_8030

After we were settled, we went to gamble somewhere in the hotel. So fun. We played big/small and pulled some machines.

Then we went outside the hotel. This is what it looks like. Sweeeeet! And we went to grab a midnight snack.

IMG_8027IMG_8028IMG_8026

Dumplings with Crab and Soup
Dumplings with Pork and Chives
Sesame Filled Sweet Dough Balls

Mmm … I love the wrapper of the dumplings with crab and soup but loved the filling of the pork and chives dumpling. YUM! If only it was that instead then I would really be satisfied!

IMG_8029

Macau money if anyone wondered what it looked like.

I’ll update Macau: Day 2 later. I gotta pack for Taiwan. Leaving to the airport in a few hours then riding on a jet plane! Weeee!!

Day 10: Organic Foods + More Pigeons + Beer

First things first … I changed my layout! It’s very simple but less kiddish than the last one. I’m thinking of redoing my header but I’ll wait to think about that until I’m back in the States.

IMG_7915

Woke up and had brunch with mum at this place.

IMG_7920IMG_7916IMG_7917

Soya Bean Milk (Cold)
Sour Prune Juice (Cold)
Braised Eggplant with Garlic & Chili
Garlic Stewed Green Beans

The Soya Bean Milk was delicious. I can’t say the same for the Sour Prune Juice.

The Braised Eggplant was super salty while the Garlic Green Beans had no taste.

IMG_7919IMG_7921IMG_7922

Stir Fried Rice with Minced Pork & Preserved Turnip
Noodle Soup with Deep Fried Spare Ribs in Spicy Sesame Sauce

The Stir Fried Rice was to die for. I can go back and eat ONLY that. Actually that’s what my mum plans to do that and what’s below.

The Noodle was a fail. Nothing special and the Spare Ribs are just like any other Fried Pork Chop here in Hong Kong.

IMG_7923

Pan Fried Pork Dumplings

So good. They had a lot of juice in it. Just how I like my dumplings! A lot of it squirted out … which I was sad about. Sad smile

I love trying new foods but we seriously always order too much. It’s a good thing there’s something called a take out box.

IMG_7924IMG_7925IMG_7926IMG_7927

Then Mum and I went to an Organic shop next door. Happiness. I bought the Veggie Chips … let’s see if it tastes better here or in the States. I’m betting the States. Winking smile It’s all made in Taiwan … so if it tastes amazing, you better bet I’ll stock up when I’m there.

Picture0003

I still haven’t gotten my haircut … because I’m lazy … so this is what my hair looks like … Every. Single. Day. I miss my bangaroos. But it’s so hot here anyway that putting your hair up feels better than having hair stuck all over your face and neck.

Picture0004

Enjoying some ice cream Vincent and Rachel got me yesterday. Too sweet … but so good on this hot, hot day. I didn’t finish it all .. of course. Ice cream never was my favorite. I’ll save it for later.

IMG_7934

Mum bought some for Sissy because they were apparently on sale. But I think I’m gonna steal some. For those that don’t know what it is, it’s little Koala Bear Cookies filled with Chocolate. Brings me back to childhood. Winking smile

IMG_7938IMG_7944

Dinner came and PoPo asked Kathy to buy beer! Whoo hoo. The Asian way is no cups. In bowls. Smile with tongue out

IMG_7942IMG_7943IMG_7940IMG_7941

More pigeon. PoPo knew I liked it so she went out and bought Kathy, Mum, herself, and I one!! You can see the heads popping out. And that even bothers me. Luckily, they popped the head off of mine because that’s just straight up gross.

… veggies, tofu, eggplant and hot pepper with pork.

So. Damn. Good.

One thing I’ll surely miss when I leave is PoPo’s cooking.

Macau

Off to Macau later to stay in a hotel tonight with Kathy, Mum, and Rachel. I’m a day early so … I’ll already be there while y’all just start y’all’s Saturday. Weird huh? How it’s actually Friday right now but it’s Saturday for me? Smile with tongue out Then the fun begins the next day when Vincent and Alva joins us after work. I’m not sure if I’ll be able to go through without my HKID and with just my Passport so we shall see. Fingers crossed! If all goes well, we’ll be making amazing memories. Else, it’s back to the flat and to the mountain tops instead. Either way, win win!
