“Bad Day, Bad Day”

It’s Monday … and everyone knows what a shitty day Monday can be. You know that Jackie Chan Adventures show that use to be on? It seems I’m channeling that today. “Bad Day, Bad Day.”

Oy vey. I tend to keep things positive because I don’t like being all Negative Nancy and I rarely talk bad about work if ever but it really got to me today.

I cannot take it when bosses play favorites.

The kind of music I listen to when I’m unhappy. Sad songs. ha Anyone else use Songza? It’s pretty sweet. I have it on my Android. Loveeeee it!

Receiving this right after work couldn’t have come on a better day. Thank you for friends like these. I won’t be able to make it to her graduations but fingers crossed I can go to her party whenever she’s making it. Yeah yuhh! She is so smart. Look at everything she’s graduating with!!

And on an even happier note … Happy 2nd Anniversary Will & Kate!!

Hopefully the rest of this week will be better. Fingers crossed. (Should be since Bruno is staying for a week!!) There’s always a bad day out of the week, eh?

Happy Monday to the rest of y’all!

2013 FTK Dance Marathon

IMG_20130404_161308

After work last Thursday I sped to San Antonio. The drive was brutal. Being stuck in traffic for 2 hours was the best … let me tell you.

Spent time with my lovelies, Patricia, Shayna, & Marisol while we caught up and made bandanas. I couldn’t fall asleep and literally got a good hour and thirty minutes in. By that time I knew there’s no point in trying to sleep. Time wasted is the worst feeling in the world. Got my butt up and tried to do some blogging then got ready for the Dance Marathon.

IMG_20130409_213112

I was going to do the whole hour by hour of how I felt but we all know that sometimes time goes by fast and sometimes times go by slow. The first four hours went by pretty fast especially since the Families and the Kids were there to cheer us on. But when they left and 1 o’clock hit with nothing much to do, insanity kicked in. Going outside and upstairs definitely helped a lot. I just wished it was a set thing that we were allowed to do. We did many laps around the center just to keep our sanity.

532038_10200936129348547_997950243_n

Some of us girls before standing up.

When the Families came back around 10am, happiness rushed over me. That in just over 3 hours, we will have finished our goal. The hugs I got from my favorite family (a mum and three kids) definitely put a smile on my face. They were SO proud of all I was doing. The swelling in my knees and my minor refracture on the ball of my foot was nothing compared to what they went through in the past.

via

We finally made it through all 18 hours without sitting down or resting. And we helped raised over $40,000! I wouldn’t trade my swollen knees to sit down. The feeling of accomplishment and knowing I did not cheat is the best feeling ever. I even squatted when I peed. TMI? I’m a squatter in public regardless if I had to stand 18 hours or not. Plus having these memories with some of the best people really makes it all the worthwhile. My only regret is not spending enough time with certain people. They were busy working the dang thing.

Throughout the weekend I found out who I can and cannot trust and who truly cherishes my friendship. I agree I sometimes only hear one side of the story but sometimes I get 2 or 3 sides of a story. People can say I’m bias but I always knew certain people were shady. The stories just confirmed it even more. I just never thought they would wear such a thick mask. That just means I don’t have to waste time.

Another marathon (dance wise) under my belt and may just be my last one. Mission complete. Happy Hump Day. Excited tomorrow is my Friday! Yippee!!

Julia & Noel’s Wedding

This past weekend was filled with reunions. Whoop! And it’s nice to see that friendships haven’t died. I mean, yeah I’ve been gone for almost one year. But it’s nice that I’m able to talk to them like I use to. Like nothing’s changed. I know I say that a lot but I’m just so thankful for it all.

IMG_20130126_000328

I was lucky enough to stay at an old friend’s place. Thanks Jane, Chris, Long & Vy!

I bought them a cake to say thank you. That fruit was delectable.

I even got to see Liliana, Marisol, Andy, Jakob, and Nayeli. We went to Kona and had a fun time just talking and making new memories.

I even got to spend one on one time with Liliana. I miss those. They always make me so happy. I can always tell her SO much. It’s crazy.

IMG_20130128_004116

Sunday was Julia and Noel’s Wedding. Look how precious they are. The love is in their eyes.

I’ve known them since they started college. And they’ve both grown SO SO SO much. They learn from each other and no matter how far apart they are their love stays strong. They never give up when times get rough. They are the definition of love.

High school sweethearts win for this round. Wish them all the best!

They had little snacks for cocktail hour. Yum!

20130127_154207

And an open bar … say what?! The little shot glass in the back was our souvenir. Love love love! This would be a Cinnamon Whiskey & Coke. So good!

I drove home right after the wedding. I had a lot of fun. Dancing, photo booths, seeing the two love birds finally celebrating their tying of the knot. Congratulations you two!

Since I came home super late … early Monday morning that is … I took the day off. Got manicures with Samantha and had a lunch date. We went to Ikea, got her a dining table with chairs, helped build one then went to happy hour with Mallory.

We call ourselves The Powerpuff girls. Mallory is blonde … therefore Bubbles. Samantha is a redhead … therefore Blossom. And I have black hair … therefore Buttercup.

I’ve never seen the show but I found it funny that we were like that.

Love them. I get to see them again tomorrow night! Holla!

Goodbye San Antonio

San Antonio Part III

Yesterday was my last day in San Antonio which meant it was a sad, sad day.

*The first two pictures you see are from when I was running errands with him the day before and took them. They’re pretty.

IMG_20120629_234856

Made with pans … at the Culinary Institute!

I woke up early to pack up the rest of my things and then went to Patricia’s to drop off silverware that I would never need again. Said my last goodbye to her and then went to lunch with him and his friend. We spent a good 3 hours sitting there talking about the randomest things … those always makes the best conversations. A lot of times they talked about people I didn’t even know and I didn’t mind at all. Just listening to them talk was nice. We talked a lot about marketing, advertising, and computer stuff. And I loved every second of it.

IMG_20120629_235327

Some building … it looked like it was decorated with puffy paint. Happy colors.

After we departed, I went and packed the rest of my car. Turned my keys in. Hugged everyone, stared at the apartment complex, and drove away. I’m sad I’m not coming back in August, but I’m happy knowing that I will be back to visit and to see all these people again. I’m aiming for November since I have an excuse to go back: FTK’s Fashion Out Cancer Show. Smile Cannot wait to see what they come up with this year for that. So excited.

IMG_20120630_192105

“You brighten up the sky.
Like a rainbow after the storm.

The drove back to Houston was long though. Sleeping for a total of 3 hours those past two days didn’t help. But it felt nice coming back home and knowing that I won’t have to move again … for a while.

My twin bed is now filled with 7 pillows and three blankets. And even with this heat, it feels nice to be surrounded by softness. I cannot wait for a bigger bed though.

Liliana mailed me a belated birthday card. And it made me tear up.

2012-07-01 14.35.432012-07-01 14.36.49

“I wonder whether you know how the good things you do ripple out to make things nicer for other people. I wonder whether you realize you have a gift for listening with a gentle heart when someone needs to talk. And I wonder how you do it all, day in and day out, with such grace. It’s no wonder I love having you for a friend. Happy Birthday”

I hope that it’s true. That other people see me as that because that’s not a bad reputation. I should have studied to be a physiatrist or something. So I guess if you ever need someone to talk to, I’m a good one to chose from. My email’s always open …

Sadly I didn’t get to see her in San Antonio; she wasn’t in town. But I know for a fact I’ll see her in November when I go and I. Can. Not. Wait.

I already miss them all. Now I’m back to being by my lonely self.Crying face

Workout

45 min cardio

My plan has completed. I am so thankful for that because this 3 week plan was killer! Mostly on the legs.

I cannot wait for Hong Kong. That means a lot of cardio since you walk and sweat everywhere. That only means strength training at nights. Sounds good to me.

I’ll be taking a lot of pictures of my food because well … it’s Hong Kong. That’s pretty much all you do.

Penn State: Day 1

So yes. I did not sleep at all. And I still have not slept. Whoo!

It started out with a 3:30am drive to the airport with Patricia, Shayna, Shayna’s Mum, and Flor.

326411_3226315533683_1140361677_3275082_1731460754_o

Shayna and her mum left and Jakob arrived right when we were walking in! So these are the earliest risers that got there first! We win …

2012-02-16 03.53.47

Shayna made little baggies of breakfast for all of us. It consisted of a blueberry muffin, a Capri sun, little pieces of candy, and a bag of pretzels.

336098_3226339814290_1140361677_3275085_582704734_o

Us all enjoying our breakfast. We sent this blurry picture to Shayna to let her know we love her and wished she was with us.

IMG_5489

Us in our seats. We got to pick anywhere we wanted to sit. There was a lot of open seats so a lot of us had our own row … like Tim J. here who sat in front of me. Jakob sat in my row and we had an open seat in between us.

IMG_5492IMG_5494

Before we took off, the view. And after we took off, the view. So pretty!

It was a 3 hour plane ride to Baltimore.

I was so hyper before we took off. But once we were up in the air, the hyperness died off. I tried hard to fall asleep but failed so I pretty much just shut my eyes and listened to music Trisha gave me the night before.

IMG_5495IMG_5496

Little snacks we got on the plane. I only ate the Wheat Thins and still have the Ritz. I got water and Tim J. threw the Plane Cookies at me which I still had until later that night.

IMG_5497

The view from the sky as we were about to land! It’s so pretty!

Hello Baltimore!

IMG_5499

We grabbed food quickly from the food court at the airport. A bunch of us bought food from Quizno’s. I got a veggie sub. Yums!

IMG_5500

Then we got on our charter bus to have a 3 hour drive to Pennsylvania.

It was a pretty fun bus ride. I really wished I got some sleep but we had fun reading a Cosmo magazine Patricia bought. Ryan was going crazy over it! And Tim J. somehow felt the need to talk to me and share with me things that happened in the past and his failed Valentine’s Day. I feel sorry for him.

IMG_5505IMG_5507

Next thing I know … SNOW!! Life is amazing.

I am in love with this weather. It’s cold but not cold enough where I want to kill myself. I wish I could move up to a cold place when I get older.

2012-02-16 14.23.39

We arrive at The Atherton Hotel and this is the lobby. Hello. You’re gorgeous!

IMG_5510IMG_5511

And the rooms aren’t shabby either. It’s just the three of us (Liliana, Marisol, and me). So big! So much room! I get to have a bed ALL to myself! hehe

430788_3300785479457_1262526818_33460568_1345688831_n

A group  of us walked around the streets before getting dinner. Everyone else went their separate ways. (Courtney, Andy, Patricia, Tim J., Liliana, Marisol, and me!)

2012-02-16 16.05.16

I found a Wilson Volleyball!! It’s so cute … I want it!

Everyone was starting to get hungry so we went to:

All-You-Can-Eat-Buffet for $11.95. We all jumped on it. You pick what you want and they cook it! It looks dead but there were people here!

2012-02-16 16.57.39

I ate ALL of that. And another plate. I can make this at home but it was nice having more ingredients than usual. Winking smile

429579_3300784399430_1262526818_33460567_1971974557_n

Andy, Liliana, and I at the restaurant. We only found this place because the Penn State students suggested it.

I would probably not waste $11.95 on this kind of food since I can make it myself, but it was good enough to satisfy all of us and our hungry tummies.

Afterward, we all walked back to the hotel and we chilled in my room. Ryan and Dilip walked in to let us know they were going to have a drink in the hotel bar downstairs. The 21+ club followed suit. Aka: Patricia, Marisol, Tim J. and I.

2012-02-16 18.31.44

I got a Shock Top that was on Tap. Yum!

Then Bob and Cindy came in with Emily and they had a drink. Along with Murtuza, Lance, Jakob, and Tim S. Eli walked in to hang out with us a little.

A few of us played pool and then some of us went back to our rooms to relax.

It’s been a busy, fun filled day. It’s only 10pm here where back home, it’s 9pm. This time change is confusing me and I am starting to get tired from not sleeping!

I cannot wait to see what tomorrow brings!

I hope you all have an amazing Friday!

Life Is Always Better With Great Company

I was at school from 8am-around 6pm last night. Friday’s are my long days and I wouldn’t have it any other way. I’m surrounded by people who love doing what I love to do. They are selfless and hardworking. I’ve wonder how life would be for me after I leave them all. College hasn’t been the best of times for me but this year, even with the ups and downs, it hasn’t been that horrible and possibly my best.

65

Last night after the meeting that ended at around 6pm, a group of us went to Habanero’s. This is only 1/3 of the group. Tim J., Andrew C., Gary, Sarah S., and moi.

2012-02-03 19.00.12

Patricia and I shared a Dosarita? I’m not too sure how to spell it but it’s a Dos mixed with Margarita. I’m not a fan of anything but beer but I was willing to give it a try. This ish was strong and was thankful when other people helped with it.

The real fun then began … with my tipsy self suggesting Laser Tag.

Picture0340

We played two games. First game was crazy. There were a lot of little kids who kicked our asses. And us college kids formed alliances. I was so happy to see that I got 12th place out of 27. That has to be good right? The score is horrible though. Smile with tongue out

Picture0341

For the second game, it was an Ironman game so it was longer. We started out having an alliance hence my name “YELLOWRNGR”. But then we all just split up and it was every man for themselves.

I got tired of running around and “saving” my life. I got 3rd place out of 14 though! I was surprised. The other people who we didn’t know were cheaters and just bleguhhh … yucky.

I was told I was 4th for the whole day. Ain’t that cool? I guess I am actually good at Laser Tag but those horrible memories always made me think I sucked. Now new memories are made and I am in love with it!

407479_10150651994286062_510471061_11212429_1384048712_n

We look hardcore, no? The group minus two that went. Open-mouthed smile Sarah S., Jakob, me, Liliana, Andrew C., E. Sanchez, Marisol, and Gary.

By this time, it was POURING out but the night was still young so we ran to our cars and all headed to play BINGO! Life complete. I’ve always wanted to play bingo with a stampy thing.

2012-02-04 00.32.52

Andrew C. and I’s pile of stamped stamperoonies.

2012-02-04 00.36.37

Jakob and Andrew C., went to get beer. Bloop bloop. Beer and bingo … it’s the only way to go. We decided we will be doing this when we are old and grey.Winking smile

2012-02-04 01.37.51

And on the second to last game, I won!! I would have taken a picture of my winning bingo but they took it away from me. $150!! minus tax. Whoo weee!

400220_10150652191546062_510471061_11212931_227244116_n

Sad story. Last game = cover all for $500. A lady called BINGO when Andrew C.’s number was next on the monitor. So close yet so far away. Heartbreaking.

But it’s okay because we will, will, will, be back! And we are ready to win it ALL! It’s so addicting. A new high. Open-mouthed smile

Life is always better with great company. Amen.
