Birthday Palooza

I turned a year older yesterday. This birthday marks the best one thus far. Let’s let pictures and a few words capture my Birthday Weekend. I hope you guys had an amazing weekend like me! What amazing thing did you do?

Friday aka Party Time:

I had this day off … wonderful. Perfect. Night plans were changed due to too many people at Cheddar’s. We ended up at Wild Wings Cafe then out for drinks afterward. Thanks to Mallory, Samantha, Amanda, Lauren, Maggie, John, Ronnie, Michael, Nate, Matt, Brett, and Robbie for coming out. I had a lot of fun with y’all and it definitely meant a lot to me since some of y’all were working all day or have finals and such.

Lemon Cupcakes with Vanilla Frosting I made for my friends.
House got hot and some of the frosting melted off.
Definitely turning up the AC next time.

Some of the peoples from the night.
Thank you for making my night wonderful!

It wasn’t all that amazing. Pretty … meh okay.
You can already see me using the phone/wallet case.

Gorgeous Samantha.

Monday aka Birth Day:

I was stuck in a conference/workshop all day along with working 2 hours before to catch up on some things. Oy vey. Afterward the work team and the Canadian team that came down for the conference/workshop had a dinner thing at Dave and Buster’s. It was the longest birthday day ever.

Early bird. Already working hard and finally had time to check my phone.
Notifications wazoo.
Wrapped up office done by amazing coworker.
Birthday cupcake from Zuco.

Red Envelopes from Parents and June.

Dave and Buster’s Work Dinner … over $1100 … not counting drinks.
WTF. But the food was delicious.
Birthday Cake. Hope my wish comes true.
Some great coworkers helped me get super lots of tickets … over 3500.
Got a Das Boot and tiny shot glass as a birthday present.
The other tickets went to the other two coworkers.
They chose shot glasses and candy.

Seriously. It’s been amazing. Thank you to EVERYONE that has helped me celebrate. I’ve been giddy. Thank you thank you. All the phone calls, text messages, notifications on every social media … I am so thankful for all of you.

Happy Tuesday!

Simple Things

Simple things make me happy. Some of these pictures you might have seen on my Instagram.
If not, that’s what this post is for.

Just a little inspiration.
Yogi Tea always starts my day out right.
Too in love with my nail color.

A coworker love these babies so much, she brought me two to try.
I’ve had the lime-a-ritas before … not a fan so I gave it away.
But the sraw-ber-ritas are so yum!!
These are more margaritas than beers.
And just FYI … I did not drink these at work.

Took Mum out for dinner Friday night. Olive Garden.
Yum. So much food. Did not finish. Yay leftovers.

Had another order of a little something something at Cloud Cafe.
I know it looks like any other one that I get but I promise you it’s not.
Not too sure what it is but shiet is good.

Happy Sunday y’all! Hope it’s been a good weekend!

You’ve Been Instagrammed

Not much went on today but that the day went by fairly quickly so it didn’t feel like torture at work.
Thank goodness. After last week, I just can’t deal with another stressful one.

So here are a few pictures from Instagram because I know everyone lives on that shiet.

Deformed strawberries make their way to my fridge.
They are all pretty much that size. Steroids.

Shortbread Cookies from Hawaii. Thanks Joanna!
I’ve only had the chocolate one. Delicious.
Who wants to go to Hawaii with me?
First I need to lose half my size. Jk … but really.

Tried out my new makeup from PurMinerals, Too Faced, & Elf.
Love it all so much. I love makeup.

An M&M shaped like a heart.
And it looks as if it’s been shot through the heart.
Explains my love life … Plus it’s blue … like sad.
I read too much into things. It’s just an M&M.

Roasted Broccoli … who doesn’t like this stuff.
It’s like crack. I was sad when it was all gone.
Mum was sad when she found out I ate it all.
Whoops. Melissa doesn’t share food!

Hope you’re all having a great start of the week! I know I am …

The Past Two Days

Are blurring together … almost.

Work was very chill and went by fairly quickly. Partly because after lunch I was in a meeting for 2 1/2 hours.

I hauled ass to Amanda’s house which was a 45 minute drive and we got to catch up while she got ready. We got our food from a fake Chinese place. When I say fake, I mean … not authentic.

Then drove to Bingo in the Heights. Traffic was horrible along with the people driving. When we finally got there we met up with Cate and her friend. We couldn’t get into bingo because three different parties were saving seats (~30 each). Not fair. I don’t think that’s nice. So we left and ate our food in the park.

I’ve never had a real picnic. I talked to Jared about this today and he agrees there has to be a blanket on the floor type deal. So anway, we ate at the picnic tables and decided to see a movie. The Call.

Best movie ever. But now makes me paranoid everywhere I go. Go watch it. It’ll make you jump out of your seat … like me … and almost smacking your friend in the face while jumping.

We said our goodbyes to Cate, went over to Brent’s (Amanda’s BF’s apartment) and waited for him to get ready and then we headed to Wild West. They met some Canadian’s the day before and agreed to meet there again soooo let’s just say my liver is shot. Free drinks all night.

I literally got 4 hours of sleep. Last night I didn’t sleep for 24 hours sooo you know how tired I was today. But I had plans.

Went to Top Golf with Sissy, Brett, and Brett’s little sister and bf. They were in town visiting. Their first time in Houston. I had fun with them. They were super chill. Got 2nd on the two games we played. Love it. I bid my farewell as they headed to Alamo Drafthouse.

Came home and took Mum to lunch. Had THE best burger in forever. Medium Rare burger. YUM! So juicy. I want you again in a few months please.

Samantha came into my side of town and we shopped and ended up at Ulta for a good 1 1/2. I got my eyebrows and lip waxed. First time ever and so proud I took the plunge. I am always afraid they would mess it up and a chunk will go missing. I feel like a lady now.

Had dinner with Samantha and Jared at Chuy’s. We were there for a while just talking and eating and it was fun. I am always afraid to integrate my friends only because it didn’t work out well in the past. But it seems this time around, it worked and I am thankful.

We bid our farewells to Jared and went to Bingo. So happy I finally got to play after the fail the night before. We didn’t win anything but it was fun nonetheless. It’s always amazing to have one on one with Samantha. Yay for being single …

Hope you all have a great weekend. I cannot wait to just veg.

Pretty Chill Day

Here’s an update on the giveaway. Since I’m busy all day tomorrow, I won’t be able to pick anyone until super late tomorrow (Thursday)/super early (Friday). Sorry for having to do this but I don’t want to be tied down because of blogging. But hey … it’s a good suspense right? Plus it’s not like I’m running away with the goodies. Forgive me.

Anyway, today was a total opposite of yesterday. TOTAL OPPOSITE.

Yesterday I was so confuzzled and today I was so relaxed. I mean, I still had a lot of stuff to do but I think knowing I was going to see certain people later in the day just made everything float and go by faster.

Breakfast: the most important meal of the day. Yogi Green Tea Energy with very wise words as usual. One of the reasons I love them so much. With a side of avocado and PB2 on wheat with chia seeds. YUM. My coworkers think it’s super weird I eat avocados with toast … and peanut butter. Whatever. They don’t know what’s good.

One of them also said my PB2 smelled like his farts …… gross. They do not.

Giving credit where credit is due: After a long day I just wanted to jet outta there but right when I was about to exit my workplace (good few feet away), I get stopped. Can’t wait for this new parking lot! I sat there in the car for a good 20 minutes until I u-turned and went the opposite way. It was very peaceful and really made me thankful for those that do stuff like this. They don’t get enough credit. I’m glad it’s not super hot yet but once summer hits … oy vey.

Something New: Sissy came home at the right time today. I get the mail when I come home and there were three packages waiting for me. It was like Christmas. I swear the mailman thinks we’re rich …

Sissy got her goodies. Mum got hers. And I got mine.

My first corduroy pants (upon other things). Dark purple with funky pattern. Sorry for my fat thighs. I love ‘em but I don’t know what to wear them with sooo they’ll probably just sit in my closet. $9.60 + 30% off … cheapest pants ever!

Happy Hour: The thing I looked forward too all week. I say all week because tomorrow is my Friday.

I finally invited Jared to Happy Hour with me, Mallory, and Samantha. I also invited Lauren F. and then it became an inviting fest and we ended up with eight people total! I would say the first integration went pretty well. All girls except two guys but I don’t think they mind. I had a lot of fun with them all and it’s great to see everyone flowing together. *sigh*

Sometimes you just gotta see certain people that brighten up your week. It makes life much more worth living.

Bingo tomorrow. I cannot wait.

Mommy Daughter Date

20130309_153013 (1)

It’s rare being able to go out alone with Mum so when we had the chance today, we got froyo at Menchie’s … my treat. They’re having a special where the waffle cone is FREE all March due to March Madness … that’s only THE best part. I can do without all the other stuff. For realz.

Then we went to Whole Foods and spent a good hour there. It’s ridiculous.I want to buy everything.

I’ve prepped ALL my meals for the upcoming week. I know that nutritional value goes down when we do that but it’s SO much better than eating unhealthily.

I hope you are all having an amazing weekend!

Think Good Thoughts!

[2013] 001/365: Year of the Snake

I decided to do Project 365 since it’s the start of the (Chinese) New Year.

For those that don’t know what that is, it’s a project in where you take ONE picture (or two or five thousand) a day as a reminder of life.

I’ve been writing in a calendar something good per day but this seems more memorable since it’s in the blog and all.

I don’t know if I’ll post every day or not. BUT I will take a picture everyday and try my best to post it everyday. If not then I’ll just pretend I posted it that day … when we all know I didn’t. Lies. I know.

Without further ado, here goes.

Happy Chinese New Year, wonderfuls! It’s been a very relaxing weekend hanging out with the family. The members in our family dwindles down every year since we’re all so busy with work or school and such. But when we get together, it feels like old times. Given the only kids this time around was sissy, Brett, and I, we still had fun.

Since it’s the year of the snake, my year, it means I have bad luck. Therefore Mum, Dad, and June gave me an extra red envelope. Two of which has red string in it and I can’t use the money in it for a year. Used to ward off the bad. The other red string is tied around my wrist. Hope it works. I need all the good luck I can get.

Hope you all had a great weekend!
