Family Weekend

Much needed, relaxing weekend. I did nothing but hang out with family which sometimes is needed. We went shopping at the outlet where I only bought a top from The Loft for only $7! And we watched Pitch Perfect and Safe Haven. For me the billionth time but they’re both such good movies. *sigh*

I’ve been busy going through the big stack of magazines that’s been sitting on the corner of my desk for months. Whenever I want to save a recipe or article, I try to see if I can find it online, else I’ll take a picture of it and whatnot to keep … forever … until the internet dies. Or something. Thank you, Evernote.

Sissy got into a car accident yesterday and totaled her car. From the story she told me, it’s a miracle she walked away without a scratch. She pretty much got t-boned and she flipped and slid upside down all the way down the street. M-I-R-A-C-L-E. Glad she’s okay. That’s all that matters.

If she was in Houston right now, she would love eating the few dark chocolate covered graham crackers I made. YUM. Wish I had better brand of graham crackers and dark chocolate though. They definitely make a big difference.

Back to my relaxing rest of the weekend. Then I’ll have 3 days of work and a 4 day weekend to follow. Cannot wait! Yippee!

Shopping, Wine, & Movies

Sissy is such a bad influence. She sent me another link to a shopping site. Eeps. Money is just draining out of me. I want to buy EVERYTHING!

Speaking of buying things, I bought these cute booties for the wedding that’s this Sunday at DSW. You like? I figure i can wear them out AND to the office. Win-Win. I want them in grey now. Or any color they have. Bows, Bows, Bows. Love, Love, Love.

Mallory, Lauren, Samantha, and I bought a Groupon for Wine Tasting at The Cellar Door in Katy.

Sorry for my huge face … I was really close to the camera. Or maybe this is a wake up call to loose weight!

We tasted 13 wines. Red and White. I only had a few I liked. If you know me, I’m a beer person. But now I know which wines I like. So I guess I learned something.

If you ask my friends, they’ll tell you that I thought some wines smelled like fish … or moldy squid. How? I don’t know.

Later that night, Samantha and I went and ate Rudy’s then watched Silver Lining Playbook and Pitch Perfect. It was a pretty chill night.

Sunday, I even got to see Tammy, Jenny, their friends Mary and Jennifer (her boyfriend too) at lunch. It’s been a long, eventful weekend.

Can’t wait for this weekend. Friends and weddings. Exciting!!

P.S. I got on it and did my workout today! Holla!

When I’m Gone

I’m off to New Orleans! Hopefully this doesn’t happen to me!

I will try to check in and read and comment y’all’s posts as much as I can.

Glad to hear y’all liked the prank video on my other post.

This isn’t anything like it but I’d like to leave you with a voice of an angel from one of my favorite movies.

I hope you all have a great weekend!

Much Love,

Reunion With Jared

I was mistaken when I thought the highlight of my weekend was going to lunch with Rose. Sorry Rose, I had a lot of fun with you but I never thought I’d see someone after 5 1/2 years had passed (or see Looper AND Pitch Perfect in one day. Go see it. It’s so dang good!).

Background Story: Jared and I met at lunchtime freshman year of high school. We became friends throughout those four years. Then college came. We went our separate ways. During freshman year of college we caught up a few times on Facebook (yay technology!) but we both got busy. It wasn’t until my last year of college we caught up on Facebook again. After I came back from Hong Kong and settled back into Houston we made plans that somehow always fell through. It made me think it would never happen.

Present Day: So imagine my surprise when I received a text from Jared at around 4:30pm that Friday asking to hang out. I was taking a nap or better yet … sleeping. When I woke up I didn’t check my phone and worked out instead. 30DS + 30 min run if you were wondering. By the time I did check my phone, it was 7pm … whoops. It’s not like I have anything to do so …

Come 10pm, while driving the 5 miles to the bar, I was excited but also very nervous. 5 1/2 years. We most definitely have changed a lot. We’re not who we use to be in high school. What if after today we realized we didn’t have as much in common as we use to? Did we ever have anything in common? What if we have that awkward silence? What if we won’t be friends anymore? Yep … I’m a big over thinker and worrier. Sorry, it’s who I am.

We had nonstop conversation flow and laughter. It’s like we started where we left off. 2 hours passed by super fast. These are the best when hanging out with anyone in my opinion. I thought it went well and he did say he had a good time. That’s good right? So I guess we’re still friends? I guess if we hang out ever again, I will know we’re still friends.

Have you ever met up or caught up with someone after so many years has passed? How did it go?
