Dolla Dolla Bills

Happy Birthday Dad (x3)!

My Dad had three birthdays this year … like me. Sometimes being Chinese is amazing. My grandma tried to explain to me how it works but I’m a just-tell-me-when-it’s-my-birthday type of person.

Today, other than the real Father’s Day, we celebrated my Dad’s third birthday!

We had dinner at:

We had 14 people so we ordered the 10 person meal and added 4 dishes to it. They give you a “dessert” at the end. Needless to say, we finished everything we were given. We are fatties.

While their food was delicious. Much better than a LOT of other places, the way they served are food was not that great. Given it was steaming hot, which is very rare when it’s at a Chinese Restaurant, they came out very slow. Each dish came out one at a time and we would finish a dish and wait for the next one. It wasn’t until the very end that the food got served by the full.

That’s how much it costs if you were wondering …

My cousin got this 10 inch Peanut Butter Pie for free from Lawler’s. It was very sweet but if you have a sweet tooth you would love it. My favorite part was the crust. Yum!

45 min cardio

Did my walk and jogging. Feeling refreshed. Two more weeks before the vaca!

Like I mentioned, I’ve been cleaning. And today took me by surprise. Given, a good $220, I knew where they were. I am just that great at hiding money. It’s always nice to clean and find surprises like this.

My closet is halfway there! I have SO much clothes that need washing. I will do that once I wake up!

The two pairs of shoes I bought the other day! Sperry’s (my third pair) and ballet flats (only $10!).

We had a big discount so my mum and I went a little crazy.

I bought this show today. Yay! I am very Asian. I must watch my people! Just kidding. But seriously, I love Chinese Soap Operas. They make me happy.

Time to relax and watch a few episodes!

Black Walnut Café and Bravos Mexican Restaurant

How am I so full today?!Disappointed smile

My friend Ed and I met at Black Walnut Café but instead of the one in Sugar Land, it was the one in Cinco.

I ordered the Garlic Cheese Bread for starters. I shared it with Ed. For the main meal I got the Grilled Cheese with Tomato Soup.

Nom Nom goodness.

If you followed me on Twitter you would of heard the words

Too much bread and cheese … dying.

That Garlic Cheese Bread is the devil … so good I couldn’t stop and cried was sad when it was over.

The soup wasn’t all that great and there was SO much cheese in that Grilled Cheese. If that’s how you roll, you would love it.

Thank goodness, I’m not lactose intolerant. I would of …. everywhere.Embarrassed smile

I was so full but Ed wanted to hang out some more before he had to go to work so we went to Starbucks down the street. He paid for my Green Tea Frap since I paid for the whole appetizer.

So good. I painted my nails too. Pretty? It’s the first time I painted them not a normal color.

Afterward I went home and played my guitar. Ed re-strung all the strings for me. I’m always afraid it will pop in my face (because that has happened before).

Reunited and it feels so good! SmileOpen-mouthed smileRolling on the floor laughing

I headed into Sugar Land to meet up with Amanda. It was suppose to be us and two of her other friends but they couldn’t make it. Oh well, more time for us to catch up!

I went to pick her up and we headed to:

Bravos Mexican Restaurant
4514 Texas 6
Sugar Land, TX
(281) 494-3340

We were there for Happy Hour. It was Amanda’s FIRST Happy Hour and I believe she said the first time she’s drank since her celebration.

We got free chips and dip. Yumm! Much needed with all that alcohol.

And by all that alcohol I mean, we each ordered …

Strawberry Margaritas. There is too much alcohol in that shizz. I know for sure now I really DO NOT like ANY margaritas. Beer for me please.

The lovely Amanda with her marg.

After much talking and sucking that baby down, I drove her home and headed home.

See .. not much eating all day. That meal in the morning got me. Dang cheese. I don’t even like you!

After reading Rachael’s post about Recommitting, I hopped on the treadmill.

I obviously did not do a 6 mile tempo run like she did (I haven’t even reached to that point yet!) but I did do a 25 minute run and a 25 minute butt and thigh exercise.

I feel better already but it’s going to be hard to go back to how I did three weeks ago.

I should of not quitted for so long! Ah, you’re stupid, Melissa.

But I did better than I thought. I even up-ed the tempo a little more than I usually did.

Thanks, Rachael, for that post. You saved me.

Now I’m sucking down a blueberry smoothie with too much milk. I ran out of yogurt so it’s mostly milk and ice. Still delicious.

I know for sure I need to eat something so I think I’m going to jump into the shower, then do so.

Tomorrow is going to be another Food-venture!! My mum and I will be attending lunch at one of the Houston Restaurant Week restaurant. Then I can cross it off my Bucket List!

Weekend Recap

All the girls dressed up for Amanda’s birthday celebration on Friday.

If you knew me, you would know all I wear out is jeans, jeans, jeans with exception to some sweatpants and basketball shorts. So skirts and dresses are a bit foreign to me. But since it was her birthday, I thought “Why not?”

So here I am in a skirt .. without tights for the first time since I was a child.Rolling on the floor laughing

And I’m happy I did. It was friggin’ hot and humid.

We went to Town Center. Her Nana drove me and Amanda there. Isn’t that cool?! Her Nana! We had a lot of fun at different places but the place we stayed at the longest? Loggia.

We danced a lot and got hit on by creepy men. Sounds like an eventful night ………

This is the first time my mum let me go out so late!! I mean I got to in San Antonio since she wasn’t around but here in Houston? Never! Plus I’m always scared to since I mean .. I’ve never done it in Houston before.Embarrassed smile

Amanda’s mum actually got us a two hotel rooms at the Marriott right in Town Center so we didn’t have to drive home or anything. So thoughtful! Thanks Ms. Susan!

This is also the first time I slept over somewhere here in Houston. I never got to do sleepovers. Definitely a night of firsts.

I fell to sleep around 4:45am and woke up at 8am. Then 9am. Then 10am. Finally when 11am came around, we all got together to talk about “What happened?!” Funny stories … stories we’ll forever remember.

Her mum even treated us all with some Starbucks the next morning. Seriously, her family is the best.

I didn’t get home til 4pm on Saturday. Crazy huh? Pretty much.

Sunday, sissy wanted me to go to her new apartment and check it out. All I did there was do what I always do: read blogs and watch Netflix.

I was so bored I started to take random webcam pictures. I even took a 30 minute nap.

I have lunch dates and hang outs set up all week. I’m excited for them but know that each time I go to something, I’m one day closer to the end of summer.Crying face

Hope you are all having a good weekend, summer, work night, etc. etc.

Black Walnut Cafe

Like stated on my previous post, I went over to Michelle’s house Friday night. I was a little scared driving through the countryside.

Eyes on the road. Safety first! 😛

When I got to her place, Stephanie was already there. We went to the backyard.

Isn’t it beautiful?! They have a river out back and past the grass you go down a slope and there’s more land and the gazebo you see on the left. Pretty neat huh?

They have a really gorgeous house. Plus, their family is really sweet.

Yesterday, June, Timothy, and I went out to Sugar Land to celebrate our cousin, Kenson’s, birthday.

We went and watched Transformers: Dark of the Moon.

I wasn’t really a big fan of wanting to watch this movie because they took Megan Fox out and added that model girl, who I don’t really care to know the name of.  But I still wanted to see it nonetheless.

Though I don’t like the girl, I like her hair. Especially when they were standing in rubble and she was talking into the camera.

I knew I would like this movie but I was hoping my cousin wouldn’t pick it because it was two hours long. I even tried to make him not pick it by saying “I heard it sucks! Let’s watch something else.” In the end, I still wished we didn’t see it in the theater.

Shia LeBeouf is as sexy as ever. As is Josh Duhamel.

Oh, and I’m not ashamed to say I shed some tears in this movie.

Anyway, for dinner, we went to:

Black Walnut Cafe
16535 Southwest Fwy #2002
Sugar Land, TX
(281) 565-7800

First off, I ordered the Toasted Raviolis “Español” [ravioli, mild jalapeño cheese, tomato & Pavia alfredo sauces, garlic bread] | $8.50 to share with the group.

I was told this was the best dish on the menu and everyone ordered it. Sadly, I was not a fan of the ravioli. It was crispy but on the inside, it was very dry. But the garlic bread was to die for. Crispy and moist enough.

For my main meal, Meatball Sandwich [house-made meatballs, mozzarella, tomato & Pavia alfredo sauces, onion baguette] | $8.50.

The meatballs were a little dry but I really liked the onion baguette. It was just the right crunch but also soft. The fries were mushy, just how I like it.

I would like to go here again and try other dishes. It wasn’t terrible, but it wasn’t 100% terrific. Maybe I just need to order something else that people love.

I can’t believe the weekend is already over! Sad, sad! Hope you guys had a good weekend!!
